Well, not really but, do you know those commercials? I have had my Summa d-60 for 3 years now and I am still on the first cutter blade. I have worked for outfits that NEED to replace their blades on their cutters every 2 months so, how is this happening??? Dunno, it still cuts 3M, MACAL, Reflective, Calendared just like butter!!! Just thought you would like to know.
I've had a spare Roland blade sitting in the closet the past two years "just in case", and I've had my cutter 4 years.
It all depends what kind of volume you do and how you have the cutter force adjusted.
I don't do a real high volume, I try to sell more graphics than little lettering so I can make more $$$ on each job which lets me (and the cutter) do less work!
I also keep the cutter force as light as possible, so the blade doesn't pierce the liner much if at all, and that also extends the life of the teflon strip which has not a scratch on my machine.

same here.........I've had my D60 about 2.5yrs and still on the first blade. I'm a 1-man shop, and my volume probably isn't as high as most, but it's cutting mostly HP and reflective EVERY day.........got 2 spares sitting in the drawer collecting dust.

When my rep came out and set up my new PC-60, he showed me that the blade should hardly be out. I didn't believe that the blade was out far enough so I rubbed it across my lip. So thats what I use as a gauge when I change blades. You should be able to JUST barely feel it on your lip or like a man's whisker a few hours after he has shaved.

I must have the same broken blade on my D60 that you have as I'm running at 3.75 yrs with the same blade too! I was going to change it a month or so ago and when I looked closely at it and the replacement I couldn't see a difference (I used to polish things down to 10 microns in a lab - super reflective) so I am used to seeing any kind of problem. The blade was like new so I put back in and will keep on cranking.
