I guess I really should have posted this under the portfolio page but I thought it would be nicer to display it here.
My 14 year old daughter Laura is really progressing with her pencil portraits and I thought it might be a nice experience for her to see it displayed here on this site.
She did this one to give to her Grandma for her 75th birthday this weekend. She's a big Elvis fan!
I think she is off to a nice start. A while back she did one of John Lennon and sold it for a 100 dollars and has a couple of pending offers to do 1 or 2 more. Good way for a young girl to earn some extra money for clothes, etc.

Bevin, she needs a website - NOW. $100 doesn't do her justice when she could be bringing in $200, $300 and more!
There's another 14 year old, wish I could remember her name, who paints flowers and is earning $10,000 and more for each of her paintings, which she does at night in her spare time usually finishing up before bedtime! I saw her on Oprah.

Very talented young lady. It's plain to see that she has a future in art if that is where her heart is.
She did a good job on Elvis and it appears that you have done a good job with her. Keep it up Dad! We can never give them a better gift than love and PRAISE.

On behalf of my daughter, we would just like to say thankyou to everyone who offered their kind comments on Laura's artwork. She presented it to my mother this past weekend and Grandma was very impressed indeed. I'm sure she has a spot already picked out for it in her home!
I will continue to encourage her and perhaps that web site sugestion would be a good idea when she gets a larger selection of samples.

Bevin, get an "Architectural Digest" (or other similar magazines)and find the various portrait artists ad pages. Call 'em up and find out what their gettin' for that work. . .your daughter is so talented and like someone has already mentioned, she should not and does not need to start out givin' her work away. This feild of art offers a lot of mediums to work in as well and it's usually the filthy rich who have portraits done! She's the next time mag. cover artist!! I hope she continues in art and gets into experimentin' with all the styles and materials available!! Have a great day!!
