Last Friday I toasted my back as I lifted some things that I really knew better should be left to others.
Saturday morning I had trouble breathing never mind actually walking or working on the roof.
But I found that I could work in a few positions if my crew did the lifting. I couldn't go up on the roof for long, although I did a couple of hours work on the less slopey parts.
I found staying active hurts me far less than laying around waiting for things to improve.
Sunday I stayed off the roof altogether and helped my dad install the many doors. Lock-up was finally achieved... well, sort of. The big main doors are not yet finished, and there are three roll-ups which we are waiting for. The studio door is also a gaping hole as I get my thoughts and a little time together to start that project. There's the studio windows too, but we have a little more hammering to do up in that area, so we are holding off on them too.
My back continues to improve daily.
Today, at last, the bulk of the roof was finished with the exception of the curved part at the front of the studio. I sure enjoyed nailing up that long ridge cap!
And as we were finishing the last section it started to rain, softly at first, and then harder as we gathered up our tools.
I'm happy to report that there are no leaks. And as it was pouring outside, I was dancing inside my brand new DRY workshop.
The electrical is almost done. Insulation, and plywood wall panelling are next on the list. The drywall ceilings are to be started on Monday morning. The paint for the walls and ceiling sits in the corner, ready to go.
Whenever things seem bleak or beyond my current ability or energy level, a ray of sunshine will peek though. Some breakthough will give me hope and a burst of energy. Today for me, it was the most beautful sound of the rain pounding on the roof.
Janis & I went out for a steak dinner to celebrate!

Sorry about your back, Dan. Don't overdo it. Glad to see that your dream shop is coming together. I think we're having as much fun watching as you are building.
