Today's St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper has an article about a mural which was painted in 1979 on a restaurant in Nordeast Minneapolis.
The mural, 40 feet long, was painted on plywood panels and is currently being removed from the building during renovation. It depicts life in the neighborhood in the 1930's. "The mural depicts the neighborhood as it might have looked 60 or more years ago, with a trolley rolling around a corner, gangster era cars, brick-front shops, a Marathon Oil station, and the castle-like towers of the Grain Belt brewery poking above the horizon to the west."
The people who are working to preserve the mural are seeking information about the painter, believed to be named Gary Stout.
Once they find a spot to display it, they are also looking for some restoration on the mural.
