I have a friend who is looking for the following parts...we've searched frantically all over the internet and have come up with nothing so far. I was hoping one of you guys could have some information that would help us

Cylinder with Piston 117 020 1200

Gasket 1117 029 2301

Thank you for any and all help you can offer.

I punched in "Stihl parts" on e-bay and this guy popped up. If he has these pieces he may have you piston and cylinder.

Hi Linda. I don't know if this will help you out, since you didn't indicate what the piston & gasket goes into. Chainsaw? Power Auger? Gas Trimmer? Lawnmower?
However, I just typed in Stihl Parts on Google and this site came up. Perhaps they might have what you're seeking. It's at:

http://www.dondickey.com/stiparts.htm

Hope this helps you out.

Why do I get all those on-line offers to sell me Viagara, when the only thing hardening is my arteries ?

Okay...update...the first link went to an email addy to which I sent a request for any information I could receive and the second link is for newer Stihl equipment. I seem to be having a really hard time trying to find these items. Do they still make the parts? Should I be posting about trying to find a used one with these parts still intact?

Anybody else have any ideas?
I've hit more search engines than I even knew exsisted...did you guys know you could type in "search engines" in one of the search engines and get a list of search engines? LOL

Anyway, thanks for the help and please any ideas !!!!

Thanks Guys! I'm sure happy to get this help! My friend likes to chop up wood for winter for folks who can't do it themselves. We just had a cold front blast through with lots of water. He considers himself behind schedule at this point! LOL

Thank you again for all your help!

Rick might have a point there.

By the time you buy parts, ship and spend time on it, you could pick up an new 028 or 032 for a couple hundred bucks brand new.

Yes, I'm a STIHL guy....

hahahahha yep....have any of ya priced a new STIHL? this old 015 i got is all metal no plastic. and i think the 015 is older then 042.
the gas line broke off on mine. piece of neoprene 3" long and to get at it you have to take the front oil/gas tank cover off. the hose was $5 and you cant buy the single gasket for the tanks so i got a full set of gaskets for $12.
i was lookin on ebay and just for grins i typed in STIHL 015 and they are still sellin used for $100-150!!!!! the 015 is a 14-16" blade and is mainly used as a trim saw because of its light weight.
