Finally I can contribute something useful to this board(I hope).My cutters run 8-10 hours a day non-stop!My biggest problem has always been tracking.Added 3rd pinch rollers,complete rebuild after 5 years of running and still in search of the ultimate tracking.I got to thinking the other day that the teflon cutting strip was always getting a groove worn in it and added extra friction.So what better cutting surface then the glass like on my cutting tables.Off I go to the local hardware store with a strip and the guy shakes his head and says it can't be done.Then along comes an employee who takes on the challenge.2 days later an hours worth of delicate sanding and I now have a new cutting strip that by my accounts will last a long time.The biggest assest more accurate cutting and no addintional friction.
By the way I don't post here often but the help I have received on this board has been priceless.You people have saved me un countless hours of frustration as I have been learning my trade.A heartfelt thanks to everyone!!! Steve

Are you saying you replaced your teflon cutting strip with a thin narrow peice of GLASS? What kind of cutter did you upgrade do you have any pictures of the upgrade? Wont it wear out your blades too quickly of break them if you use too much down force?

Hi Steve My cutters are Anagraph AE_ 60E's.The blade never touches the glass.I get more accurate cutting because there is no give like the teflon.After some use the teflon if you look at it has a small groove worn in it.So you get a variation in down ward pressure and added friction.With the glass it doesn't give,so I have to use less pressure.Hence longer blade life.Even if the blade does come in contact with the cutting strip it won't hurt it.I cut on glass tables with my razor knife all day with alot more force then my cutter runs at.

great idea..... i use an AE60 E too. and love the way it runs,,,
i think im goona try this when i change the strip. Even tho ive never had to do that yet and this machine is 4 years old..

Also it is important to keep the wheels or rollers free of glue from the edges of your vinyl. I use Rapid Remover for this. The machine always tracks better when the wheels are clean.
