I just got back from 3 weeks of nothing vinyl whatsoever near me and it was splendid!
We parked our rv up near a beach area (Harrision Hot Springs) and had a very nice spot where my little guy could dash out of the trailer to a grassy area backed by a beautiful mountain so he couldn't get into any trouble. The norm was in the AM, we'd have a knock at the trailer door and Cody's friends asking for him. He was so busy I had time to read two books! (Savages by Shirley Conrad and Clan of the Cavebear... both with Survivor type theme, loved them!) Nothing quite like getting caught up in a great book!
We spent plenty of time at the beach, also visiting the dog beach as Jenna (woof) was with us. And of course, stopping for icecream for our evening treat.
Fires weren't permitted (big fire ban out here) so we roasted our marshmallows and s'mores over our campstove in the evening.
We had to pull out yesterday as I was slated to do a firetruck today. Do you have any idea how hard it was to leave all that with the sun begging us with it's warmth to stay just abit longer?!?
So it's back to work today. Sigh... why doesn't it just rain so I can get back to work?!?! Sorry, I take that back. Dan doesn't have a roof on his shop yet. It can rain as soon as the roof is on.
Who else took an actual vacation this year? I think that was the very first time in 11 years I took 3 weeks off together at one time. I could get use to that!

Thanks for thinking of me Donna. I still need two more weeks of sunshine or at least no rain. Could be cooler though at it is easy to get fried up on the roof in the hot sun.
It has been a great summer for vacations and building new shops.
We had another great summer at Giggle Ridge!
And I'm glad you had a great vacation!

Three weeks solid! Woohoo! I could get into that too! hahahaa... on a monthly basis.
I am really having a difficult time getting back into work mode here.
In July one of my best friends, and extremely talented artist, Denise Carson flew me up to Minnesota to celebrate her 40th birthday with her. We did it up in grand style! What a blast!
Last month was Quebec with one fabulous meet (Pierre did that up right!) followed by a few days with Dave roaming about Quebec's wonders. We had a great time!
All this vacationing does have it's drawbacks. I'm having to hit the ground running each morning to catch up with work. It's funny to hear customer's asking on my answering machine ... "So, are you back in town yet?" I've answered to about 85% of them so far that I am. heehee!
Great to see you back Donna! Was wondering what you've been up to!

Just like you ,Donna, we enjoyed our first three week vacation in ten years, and the first time back to the old home country for my husband and kids. Toured Switzerland and Northern Italy, with day trips to Germany and Austria. I totally refused to even think about the shop and it worked well. I am still not back in "work mode", but to be rid of the permanent "Stress Mode" feels really good. I have intentions on keeping it this way, even at the price of rejecting some work, if necessary.
We just took a three week family holiday out to BC. We did alot of driving and saw alot of sights (even golfed at Giggle Ridge though we didn't get to meet up with Dan) We had a great time, though if I did it again, I'd want to just pick a place and set up camp instead of driving almost everyday.
I got home, did laundry and repacked for a quick trip to Quebec. It was a much-needed breath of fresh air. I'm all pumped again, though having a hard time getting out of holiday mode.
Funny how none of our business came crashing down while we were away! Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

I just took a week off for the Labor Day weekend here in the States.. heh.. There's nothing like taking a 3 day weekend and stretching it to 8 days.
I drove into Phoenix last week to pick up a girlfriend at the airport, we hung out in phoenix for a day and I showed her around. Then we came back to Lake Havasu (my home) and tore things up a bit.. sun, jetskis, boats, beaches and lake by day, dance clubs and pool/hot tub parties every night.
I took a trip back to St Louis last May and had some fun with old friends for a few days, and before that I spent a week in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Cozumel) over Christmas - I had a good time but I was SO happy to get back to my home in paradise.
Other than that, I always take a few days off here and there for car shows, car audio competitions and jetski races.. or just to lay on the beach.
The average American *Paid* vacation time is 7-14 days per year, we're way behind other countries especially those Australians with their 6-9 WEEKS of vacation!

Suelynn, I was holidaying only 45is min from Giggle Ridge! Drat! Next time you're down, let's connect beforehand so we can get together for a Tim Horton's! Seeing Harrision Beach is another stop for you next time, very beautiful scenery.
Lotti, yes, getting rid of that stress mode took some doing, but wow what a difference! It really does pay to 'get a life' doesn't it?
Nettie, I'm still ducking my neighbour whom I promised signs long ago. He finally cut down my tree in barter so I have to get with it! I doubt I'll ever get caught up.
Dan, I had meant to visit Giggleridge on our holidays but it was impossible to pull cody away from his fan club. I decided to read books and go to the walking distance beach instead of duking it out daily with him. And now you're closed?!?! Arg! Maybe next year. He'll have matured abit and may actually have an interest in holding a golfclub for what it was designed for. We're debating on parking our trailer this weekend somewhere, maybe Cultus Lake should be our destination soon for something different. Any suggestions where?
Dave, let me put it this way, if I retired today, I'd be a happy 'camper'! I've worked since I was in elementary school and never have had a breather in my life. Think I'm due at 41 yet???? Too bad I love spending money. Yeah, those fires are bad out here. Luckily they aren't close to our area but it's tinder dry wherever you go.
Joey, alrighty, another book for my shopping list! LOL! I'll tie it to Cody next year. Maybe another lost kid can actually read it to him.
Mike, what can I say, you know how to live! One day too you will be married, have kids and a mortgage and then you can live like the rest of us poor souls!
Good to be back on the bb! I missed it, but I also did alot more reading than I have now that I'm home. Another eye opener.

Not if I have anything to say about it! The mortgage is just around the corner but it's less than my rent - no biggie! Marriage and kids are a long long way off, not even on the radar! I'm in no hurry to settle down cause I spent the past couped up concentrating on school and carving out a career. Now that I'm done with that, it's time to LIVE!
