GREETINGS, DID ANYONE WRITE A BOOK OR ANY ARTICLES THAT MIGHT EASIER EXPLAIN COREL 9 AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE SIGN BUSSINESS? I AM CONVERTING OVER TO COREL DRAW 9 AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME. WHERE DO YOU START? I GOT THE BOOK 625 PAGES. THERES NO WAY I CAN GET THROUGH THAT! ANY HINTS? THANKS, PALMER

I can sympathize with you. I have been trying to learn it for a long time. There are some tutorials on the Corel website that are helpful but the best thing is to try and find someone to tutor you. Also try and work in the program a little each day so you don't forget how to do things. I took a job designing a logo and that "forced" me to learn the program.

Palmer..I don't know of any books that specifically address Corel in relation to the sign business, but there are many aftermarket "tutorial" type books available and they are a lot better than the actual Corel users guide. Check at your local computer store or Staples. As Jean says, Corel is a program that is best learned a step at a time and you won't learn it overnight. In fact, I have been using it since version 2 and still have a LOT to learn about it's capabilities. Just dive in and play around with it.

Corel for Dummies has worked wonders for me. I think, though, the only folks who can realistically expect to know everything about Corel started with version 3.

I don't use Corel, never have, never will...however..
I have bought a number of books for learning various programs, and the series that has the most helpful format for learning that I have found have been the "visual quickstart guides". The covers are maize (dk.yellow), violet, red and white..easy to spot in the bookstores.

Holly Cow did you know CorelDraw 9 has a built in tutorial? OK just kidding around everyone new to this program SHOULD take two days and go through the tutorial before they do anything else. Then use the web ask questions here check out corels web site and use the newsgroups that Corel has avalible.
But the biggest thing is to use the program and draw your idea on paper first and then you know what you want to do in the computer program.
I did look at the Corel Bible and I found it to be very good if you are going to spend money on a book.

I have to agree with dave on this one. The best way to familiarize yourself with 9 is to dive in and play around. If you are familiar with any older versions of corel, some of the functions are still there, they are just located somewhere else. I use the Help menu quite a bit. Dive in the waters fine.
