We recently bought a new computer which window operating system is 2000 xp, and we bought sign program inspire 6.1 years ago and they discontinue upgrade, Our question is we can still use it to this program in new compuer or what should we do? one more thing is about the key(converter) use a paraller port, is anyway convert to usb port or have to buy new key? thanks all

INSPIRE 6.1 is a windows 95-98 program. might run on XP but doubt it. key will only work in a parallel port......

it is possible to do a dual boot system with your machine. That is you can choose to boot up into win 98 or boot into win XP. spek to your local computer expert about this.
We (local user group) test about 2 or 3 dual boot systems here a month. They work great. It amounts to having your hard drive partitioned a couple of times.

I have Casmate & Inspire. I never got into using Inspire, but my experiences with Casmate include the same problem you mention. When I got a newer computer I would have been happy with Win 98, but it came with XP. I tried the "run as 98" compatability mode that was mentioned above, but that did not work for Casmate.
I also tried the dual boot partitioning. Since using Casmate was a large part of what Iuse the computer for, & moving files around between Casmate & my Adobe software was the rest of what I did all day, I never booted into XP anyway. The problems I had with that solution was that I didn't know how to do it by myself & paid someone else to do it. I also found that partitioning interfered with the overall stability of my new powerful computer to the point that I ended up restoring it to it's original state after wasting lots of time & lots of money. I now have an XP design station networked to a 98 system for my Scan-vec software.
Your new machine probably came with tons of Free but useless crap. If you don't need to use all the free crap, you could wipe it clean & install win 98 for a less complicated solution to take advantage of all the processor speed & ram that you probably got in the new system, but keep it suitable for your Inspire workstation.
Do you have at least one parallel port? You could get a dongle emulation program for about $250 & this could eliminate your need for using up a port for the key, but you would need a parallel port in order to set it up. (I think they make parallel-to-USB adapters)If you get the dongle emulation, you could also run Inspire on your old 98 machine as well. This may violate a licensing agreement, but opinions run both ways on that.

thanks all. that is what we worry about. personally I don't like new operating system. by the way, I tried on line to this site, the bb page show unknown simples, like square, comon some russin letters, what should i do? thanks again.

Go get a second Hard drive and configure it with win 98 SE. then get a pair of hard drive caddys. that way u can swap out yer HD when u wanna use XP or use win 98,,,
u win both ways,,
yes, abandoned software is usually fair game for dongle removal if you legally own a copy and do not have fair use because the author will not support it any more..
