Hello out there, This is a first for me,but I need some help. Can anyone give me a crash course on lettering a corragated metal building? It's not the rippled pattern like on the old tin barns, but the pattern being used on most newer buildings. I don't know what it's called .Can you apply pounce patterns, whats the best font to use, would a fitch be useful, etc.?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Manuel, It just so happens that we just did one of those buildings..and I got lots of ideas for how to attack the project from lots of people here Pounce patterns work just fine and the job went fairly fast. Of course, san serif fonts are the fastest to paint, but I guess it would depend on the look you want. We used one shot and cut the edges in(and the 'ridge spot') on the large letters, then filled in with a roller. Good luck

If it is the type that has a ridge every few inches, treat it like any other metal sign! With the exception that Karen explained. Outline the letters with a truck letterer or quill, do the ridge and fill in with a brush or small roller, depending on the size of the letter. 1Shot will work just fine! If you use latex, you will probably have to double coat it.

Thanks Karen & Si, I've always avoided these types of jobs due to the hassles associated , but this ones for a good client and I don,t want him going somewhere else, besides I need the experience. Karen about the pattern , do I form it around the contours of the ridges the best I can and tape it down accordingly? THANKS AGAIN

Just tape the pattern on the wall ... just like as if it was smooth. The pattern will not show at the bottom of the ridges very well... but that shouldn't be a problem, as it will be defined on the top of the ridges.
