Yeh, you get where you actually have to do stuff that's GOOD for you.....Bummer! All that healthy food and exercise will give you too much energy, then you'll be working too hard trying to burn off all that stuff, and the next thing you know your back at the Doc's. And you'll need more money for all the pills you get to take every day to keep it all together.

Pat, THE DOCTORS AREN'T ALWAYS RIGHT!!!! When I was diagnosed with lung cancer which was already into stage three, I wasn't given a 2% chance of survival. Well, almost three years later and I'm still here. It's the cancer that's gone, not me. DON'T GIVE UP, AND YES I AM SHOUTING!!!! Let God handle it, brother.

My Dad was given 2 years - he lasted another 18!! Another friend is still waiting, after 7 years, for a liver transplant - he's still cruizin' around the block! Carry on Pat - with a smile on your face.
This brings a side note as to how important it is to actually see a Doc once in awhile. My hubby had never been to a Doc. All of a sudden one night, he slept for 36 hours. We got him to a Doc who slapped him in the hospital immediately, with, of all things, spiral meningitis! While in the hospital, after all those basic tests, the Doc discovered his arteries were completely clogged up! He was a walking time bomb, waiting to drop dead at a moments notice. Open-heart surgery made it all better, along with cleaning out his carotids. Hubby's good to go for a long time coming. See a Doc once in a while. (But don't believe Everything they say!)

Doctors are not always right. They gave my Dad 6 months to live. He died 3:00 this morning but had lived 5 years longer then the Doctors said. He had Wegener's disease.
I also know of others with Hepatitis C who are still alive after 15 years. They are actually doing good. But it was hard in the early years.
Take care of your body and give it time to heal.

I saw a show a while back about "Coral Calcium" giving the body all the necessary nutrients to heal itself. They said it had to be a certain one from "Okinawa" because it had all the right stuff in it. The doctor said the body is it's own best healer and when it can't fight off illness it's probably due to a lack of some nutrient. It might have just been a sales pitch but they supposedly had cases where patients were terminal with cancer and other illnesses with no hope of recovery and after a time taking this stuff there was no illness to be found.
This has stuck in my mind since I saw that show...and I always thought that if someone close to me got really sick it would be worth a try. I think it costs about $30 a month.
Wishing everyone the best of health.

You are lucky to get that "wake up call". Once you educate yourself about "proper" diet and nutrition, you will realize what a load of destructive CRAP the average American diet (and never exercising) truly is.
Cutting down on the causes of HBP- salt, meat, sugar, fat and a sedentary lifestyle will not only add years to your life, but minimize any chances of diabetes, strokes and heart attacks in the future. Love life!

gee....you all rag on me cause i have been a LACTO-OVO VEGITARIAN for the last 14 years!!!!! i did a blood pressure test at one of these machines.....was 120/70. not bad for for 58 and 270 lbs. 1988 cholestorol was 305, i did the cut back on red meats, didnt change a thing. i quit meat totally and within 60 days cholestorol went from 305 to 160!!!! NO DRUGS!!!! we have a monthly meeting, sorta pot luck dinner of a group of vegitarians. in that group are 2 ladies diagnosed with cancer and one was given 6 months to live.......A YEAR AGO!!! she is doing well and does raw food/juicing which seems to slow the cancer greatly. the other has her cancer in remission. doctors are ok, but you dont take your car to the 1st mechanic who says you got problems, so why not get at least 2 more "estimates?" hahahahaha. i was 10-11 and was given 6 months to live....i think they was wrong......

My condolences to you also, Debbie. I think it must always seem too soon to lose a parent, but to have the chance to be prepared is a blessing. Glad your chance was so much longer then your dads doc's thought.
He did have time to give things to people he wanted them to have. And tell us things he had not gotten around to mention before. And he changed in someways. But even then it was not long enough. He was 67 and both his parents lived to be 91. In fact they were old when I was born But I learned so much from them since they had experienced much. If it had not been for my Dad I would not of been born in California. He was in the Air Force. He met my Mom in Missouri. But we settled in Ohio. He will be buried next to his parents and sister.

I am also so sorry about your father, Debbie. No matter how spiritual you are, it still has it's private pain for you. Please take care of yourself and remember you are never alone. It is great that your Dad was able to make up for lost time and that is very important. I am glad you mentioned that as I can relate. For the most part, we don't understand about God's plan for us, and no matter how much we mess up, He is still with us and keeps His promises!
My sister orders the coral calcium and when I remember to take it, I feel the benefits! I do believe coral calcium from Okinawa is much better than the other, since it is a much more natural and quality source. OP has the correct information! It is quite a great guy that shares the truth over and over without too much worry of the razin!

Deb and Elaine for your sympathy. I saw people last night and today I have not seen for many years. Just returned from out of town. The trip was long but then my sister decided to ride back with me and her granddaughter. We went cemetery hopping to visit ancestors graves and finally visited one I just learned about couple of years ago. It turned out to be an enlightening trip. And my sister pointed out the town sign my grandfather made many years ago as we went by. I took a photo on the way back. He was a tin smith by trade. Especially tin roofs (great when it rains). I remember going to work with my grandfather as a child and making tin houses. The tin snips for cutting were okay but I liked the presses to bend the peices but could not understand then why I was not allowed to use it much. He was worried I would get hurt. Lots of memories today!

My mother has had Hep-C for more than 12 years and had some minor setbacks like Congestive heart failure in 1996 and then had a Kidney transplant in 2000. but one thing is a constant with THAT woman..... You cant keep her off her feet. We live in NJ but my mother seems tio love to take trips to NY and Philly on a regular basis. I think she is in each city at least once a week and when you see her on the move you wouldnt imagine that she was retired now. I had to get her a cell phone just to keep tabs on her. So dont give up hope, I'm sure Bobbie wont give up on you.
Now all I gotta do is take the time out to visit my doctor to find out if I am doing ok, being over 40 and all

Hey, Harris, Just about to head out to an orthepedic specialists office right now. Have Physical therapy later this afternoon.
I've always been healthy as a horse, but since hitting 40 all kinds of new things have found a way to slow me down a bit.
Stinks having a bum shoulder in this biz, but I'm definitely giving it top priority. Would hate to have to stop painting and have be a lawyer or doctor. The money's good, but nowhere near as fun.

What a crappy deal. Guess I pushed it too far at FKAB. Looks like I'll be lurking around Letterville bored outta my skull for a while. Email me with questions and research needs. I'll be more than happy to spend the downtime lookijng up stuff.

Oh well OK here we go. Getting Old Is Fun 1. Two elderly women were eating breakfast in a restaurant one morning. Ethel noticed something funny about Mabel's ear and she said, "Mabel, did you know you've got a suppository in your left ear?" Mabel answered, "I have a suppository?" She pulled it out &stared at it. Then she said, "Ethel, I'm glad you saw this thing. Now I think I know where my hearing aid is." 2. When the husband finally died his wife put the usual death notice in the paper, but added that he died of gonorrhea. No sooner were the papers delivered when a friend of the family phoned and complained bitterly, "You know very well that he died of diarrhea, not gonorrhea." Replied the widow, "I nursed him night and day so of course I know he died of diarrhea, but I thought it would be better for posterity to remember him as a great lover rather than the big **** he always was." 3. An elderly couple was on a cruise and it was really stormy. They were standing on the back of the boat watching the moon, when a wave came up and washed the old woman overboard. They searched for days and couldn't find her, so the captain sent the old man back to shore with the promise that he would notify him as soon as they found something. Three weeks went by and finally the old man got a fax from the boat. It read: "Sir, sorry to inform you, we found your wife dead at the bottom of the ocean. We hauled her up to the deck and attached to her butt was an oyster and in it was a pearl worth $50,000 . .please advise." The old man faxed back: "Send me the pearl and re-bait the trap." 4. A funeral service is being held for a woman who has just passed away. At the end of the service, the pallbearers are carrying the casket out when they accidentally bump into a wall; jarring the casket they hear a faint moan. They open the casket and find that the woman is actually alive! She lives for ten more years, and then dies. Once again, a ceremony is held, and at the end of it, the pallbearers are again carrying out the casket. As they carry the casket towards the door, the husband cries out: "Watch that wall!" 5. When I went to lunch today, I noticed an old lady sitting on a park bench sobbing her eyes out. I stopped and asked her what was wrong. She said, "I have a 22 year old husband at home. He makes love to me every morning and then gets up and makes me pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and freshly ground coffee." I said, "Well, then why are you crying?" She said, "He makes me home made soup for lunch and my favorite brownies and then makes love to me for half the afternoon." I said, "Well, why are you crying?" She said,” For dinner he makes me a gourmet meal with wine and my favorite dessert and then makes love to me until 2:00 a.m. I said, "Well, why in the world would you be crying?" She said, "I can't remember where I live!" 6. Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards. One day they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, "Now don't get mad at me....I know we've been friends for a long time ...but I just can't think of your name! I've thought and thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is." Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, "How soon do you need to know?"
THE SENILITY PRAYER Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
Enjoy, Fred Floyd
