The thesauraus defines formal education as established instruction. Does not mean 5 years of college or university. It may mean 5 years of established instruction as in apprenticing in a sign shop. I think you are taking this personally. You are thinking with your gut. I'm the first to admit that I do that at times. I don't see how you can use that tag line and then make a response like that.

OK Heads, enough or I'll get Terry Tate in here.
Terry Tate

Oops, had to edit because I hit reply instead of URL. I guess I should have edited my other post, but I just wanted to say that if I am striving to be the best Letterhead that I can be, I think that means having an appetite for learning, as well as being willing to work on myself.

Now just a minute Ken. Nobody gets outta Letterville without a fight from me. Sit your butt down!

I've know Ken Henry for many, many years. Long before Letterville was even a spark in my brain. He's one of the early ones, someone I'm proud to call my mentor and friend. He learned his trade the same way I did. It's called the School Of Hard Knocks and there is nothing wrong with that school.

I also know Timi very well. He's one of the smartest people I have ever met. Timi may be able to tell you what the mole on Leonardo's butt looked like, but he is also a down to Earth guy. He's not just book smart! He has a knowledge of fine art, and it's history that I am lacking in, but he is also one of the most rounded and talented artists I have met. His mural work is something to marvel at and he is always ready to share.

If Ken and Timi are ever able to meet in person, both will soon realize how silly this whole thing is. These guys have much in comman. We tend to read these posts differently. Barb and I often disagree on the tone and temperment of what the writer is saying. It all depends on events and our feelings at the moment in time we read a post. Egos and insecurities also play an important part.

Bottom line is this. Timi is feeling terrible over Ken's reaction to his comments. Barb and I are both feeling bad that two of our best friends are banging heads over something that was taken a way too personally. I'm asking you both to give each other a second chance. In this case, I know the rewards have having you both here are well worth any bruised egos. Life is too damn short!

Can we have a group hug? Come on! It feels good.

Steve, you are in no way qualified to reconcile these two gentlemen over their differences.
By putting that group hug icon in your post, you may cause more harm than good.
JUST KIDDING!

We might want to relate this thread to the other one about "What's going on?".
I skip over a lot of posts, usually because they neurotically need to ramble on about anything, without ever knowing what they are talking about.

Ken Henry is surely not one of them.

Update: Timi and I have spoken about this matter in a phone conversation that he initiated late last night. We have straightened everything out, and I am confidant that he meant no malice or had no intention of pre-qualifying respondants. I respect him as a gentleman and a scholar, and am glad to have this issue resolved. I may have read more into his post than he intended, but I guess that's sometimes easy to do when the written word is all that we have to rely upon, and we can misinterpret what the real intention is. Bottom line is that this issue ends with both of us still friends.

I love a happy ending.

In my view, Timi's post had an "uppity" tone about it, but I knew what he was getting at. He's a good guy.

Gail says it best.

I get a kick out of David Wright's common sense, and I'm impressed at how little he has to type to get a point across.

Sure have enjoyed Ken's posts thru the years, wouldn't want to lose them. He qualifies in my book.

I'm with Glenn. I still don't know squat! [Smile]
I'll continue to tip-toe whenever lending advice.
