We completed pouring the walls of the new studio/shop yesterday. It was truely a monster day with us doing about 72 cubic yards of concrete in a single go. True to form it was very hot out too, but the guys gave a massive effort and all went well!
Today we removed the bracing and scaffolding and finished the cleanup. And does everything ever look good! In a couple of hours we had the plates on and we are ready for trusses next Friday!
These pics were taken the day before we poured the concrete but the building looks essencially the same except all the bracing is now removed and the site is much cleaner in general.
I sure like this new system of building with the styrofoam forms. There is definitely a learning curve as with anything, but we did just about everything possible on our first time out, curved walls, arches, t-walls, and 14 foot tall pours. The concrete company is excited about our little project and it should bring us some pretty good exposure...
I can hardly wait for the next major step... THE ROOF!
But for the next couple of days I think I'll take it just a little easier than the frantic pace it's been for the last while...
Here's the view from the side near the house...
And the current view as you come up the driveway
And here's the back side... you can see my very private deck in this view. Today after the guys went home I brought out a chair and read a new book for a while in the shade, glancing up once in a while to enjoy the view of course

It gives me chills to watch it happen. I mean, much of the world is yearning to be able to predict the future, but sometimes, you can actually make your own future happen.
I hope I'm not repeating myself. Hmmm, which is worse, that or not being able to remember for sure? Is it mysterious dejavu or the onset of senior citizenship? Oh wait, just "burnt".
