Good morning everyone. I finally got a guy working on boatgraphicspr.com (& hopefully finishing it)
I want to add a section like in myboatsign.com, where you can type the name of your boat & see it in whatever color with whatever font. BUT way nicer, something like on the Letterheadfonts safari gold CD.
Now, according to him, I gotta pay extra to Hostway to be able to do this. He emailed me the following:
Host Way
PHP Version 4.0 is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly.

is he mainting this site for you? Or, is he just hosting this site? you answer will depend on who is doing what.
In some cases they will charge you more because they must be ready to update your code whenever you make a change. And, they must run additional software so your site will operate.
However, There should be no additional charges if they are merely hosting your site and using bandwidth.

One way around it is to use Flash to build a seperate console, or you might even talk to Chuck Davis or someone else at letterheadfonts.com to see if you could somehow purchase a license to use their online "Type Tester" interface on your own site, or at least use their programming with your own interface design.
Most webhosting these days include PHP at no extra cost, but if your hosting is rock bottom budget it's understandable they want more $$ to do it. If your hosting includes CGI/Perl scripting, you could use that to do what you need as well.
Either way you go, the process of getting the service setup is the easy part.. don't forget about the cost to program that kind of interface! That's why I suggest seeing if you can use the letterheadfonts.com Type Tester cause they already have all that stuff programmed, and chances are all the fonts are loaded through a dynamic database so it would be easy to add/remove your own fonts.

Thanks guys. I think I pay around 12 bucks a month for the just the hosting. I gotta tell you, I really don't know anything about websites. Thanks again!
