I have a customer who needs some stencils to paint weight numbers on equipment. He has used the cardboard type but that gets ruined too quickly, so he wants some thing cut out of "tin".
I saw a post on here a while back about a company that custom cuts hard stencils like this but tried a search, but no cigar.
Anyone remember thaty company or somewhere that I can get these?
Thanks, Tony

I don't know about metal stencils, but I've made stencils out of high impact syrene. They are very durable, clean off easily and I cut them on my plotter. I just set the weight so it cuts almost all the way through and then carefully remove the waste. Hope this helps.

Tony, There is a outfit in Milton on Hwy 92 that has the water cutting equipment to do this. Also Leading Edge industries in Youngsville, will do it in alum..

Hiya Tony, I just finished up a quote for the same thing. I'm sure that anyone with a router can help you. I chose to use .060 polystyrene because metal is very dangerous until you finish it. All the edges of the routered letters are extremely sharp and, if your're not careful, you will get cut. My cost was about $180 for 26 - 12" x 18" panels with 3 - 4" letters per panel. I doubled my cost and added in design time to quote the finished product. I also added a disclaimer that stated " Quantity discount applies. Smaller quantities may be significantly higher"

Thanks for the replies. I think the best option would be to sell him a brass stencil set. I have more work coming from him for other things and custom cutting and all that probably wouldn't be cost effective for him.
I'm going to get the set and mark it up.

Tony, Sign Mart in California can custom cut stencils out of a heavy plastic, I don't have their number handy but if you need it let me know I can find it.
