I'm a 49 year old dinosaur who failed to adapt to the changes in the industry and just plain gave up about 1996. Made my first mistake about the 6th grade when some guy let me paint the "RicShaw" on the dashboard of his 53 ford, and I haven't been right since. Worked around Central and Southwest Florida for about 10 years in the 70's and 80's then moved to NC where I failed miserably to get restarted and hooked up with a large outfit hear doing NASCAR Haulers for about 7 years. Photo decals took ove rand when I got really tired of pealing decals, and whining about the "Good Old Days" I gave up and took up truck driving. Problem is, I have this crap in my soul, and have spent years saying it was time to get back to what I should be doing. Well, it's time!
We should start a new club, there's a bunch of us with the same history. You didn't mention your plans. Joining the crowd and cutting vinyl or you gonna give the brushes another try?
Either way, all the best to you! (You may want to check out the post below about "luxury".)
Been where you are not to long ago. I gave up the sign biz for a year and washed dishes.
One of the best thing about getting back to this biz is that it's all new again. I got a fresh outlook on it and have been a lot more confident, not only in the work, but in how I run it as a business.
Good luck in your endevours and remember....you've got it in your blood, but don't let someone bleed you on the price.

Hey Scotty, would your stint in the trucking biz give you any insights or connections for lettering trucks?
In regards to computer vs vinyl, it's not either-or, it's both!
Also, check out the how-to section of this site. There's a how-to about vehicle graphics by George Perkins. Good stuff. I'm pretty sure he does alot of work on site.

Is that PC statement written in response to your sticking your foot in your mouth with the term BRUSHMEN the other day Rochon? At least you're learning something.
