I've noticed how Clipart is sacred on this site, its like a big No-No to ask for that kind or help. Why is that?

Knowledge from those in the know is taken for granted, secrets are prohibited and tips and tricks are in demand. Some have a lifetime of experience which is considered to be sacred but not a sacred as clipart, Why is that?

Persons mention problems with paints, dry time, wrinkling etc. But never state what they are reducing with and how much, why is that?

How come 1-Shots Hardener isn't called Catalyst? Is it because they don't want anyone to think its harmful? Hardener or Catalyst, its all Isocyinates whatever ya call it.

Is there really such a thing as Outgassing with automotive paint, when the cure time in most all of these paints is less then 48 hours without a booth? What the hell is Outgassing anyway, I haven't heard that term in years til I came here.

Why do persons use sign enamel on vehicles when it needs to be clearcoated at the end. Is sign enamel really the cure-all or is it because its the cheaper of the 2?

Why does everyone seem to want a higher price for their work when their experience is that of a newbie and their still learning how to put it all together?

How come sign makers ask about contractors licenses when their job is to make signs and collect money?

Why do some want to do the dirty work of digging holes, mixing cement and putting the signs up, isn't that the sign owners job?

Hey, what do I know? I'm just a pinstriper [Smile]

I've noticed how Clipart is sacred on this site, it’s like a big No-No to ask for that kind or help. Why is that?
---------------
Sacred??? Besides the copyright issues ... Would you want this to become a file swap site rather than a place to share experience and knowledge? It’s giving a person a fish rather than teaching them how to fish.
------

Knowledge from those in the know is taken for granted, secrets are prohibited and tips and tricks are in demand. Some have a lifetime of experience which is considered to be sacred but not a sacred as clipart, Why is that?
----------------
Not as sacred? I don’t know which site your reading … reference above answer.
--------

Persons mention problems with paints, dry time, wrinkling etc. But never state what they are reducing with and how much, why is that?
--------------
I’ll just assume people are using the proper reducer for type of paint … or else they would ask about reducers.
-----------

How come 1-Shots Hardener isn't called Catalyst? Is it because they don't want anyone to think its harmful? Hardener or Catalyst, its all Isocyinates whatever ya call it.
---------------
How come automotive catalyst isn’t called hardened? That’s what it does isn’t it?
-----------

Is there really such a thing as Outgassing with automotive paint, when the cure time in most all of these paints is less then 48 hours without a booth? What the hell is Outgassing anyway, I haven't heard that term in years til I came here.
---------------
Don’t have an answer for the used vocabulary … call it what you want … if you can smell it, it’s still releasing fumes, it isn’t cured.
--------

Why do persons use sign enamel on vehicles when it needs to be clearcoated at the end. Is sign enamel really the cure-all or is it because its the cheaper of the 2?
-----------------
Until fairly recently that was the norm … I remember when your stripe site was all about using one-shot ... before uros became the norm.
------

Why does everyone seem to want a higher price for their work when their experience is that of a newbie and their still learning how to put it all together?
--------------
Most people like to eat. If they didn’t charge a good price they would be labeled as the undercutting scab anyway. No win situation there.
-----------

How come sign makers ask about contractors licenses when their job is to make signs and collect money?
----------------
Some signs involve a bit more than a 4x8 screwed to a wall.
------------

Why do some want to do the dirty work of digging holes, mixing cement and putting the signs up, isn't that the sign owners job?
------------
Some might want to makes sure the job is done right.
------------

Hey, what do I know? I'm just a pinstriper

Mark, if you can remember when my site was all about 1-Shot, then you are not speaking about my site. My site was put up around 6 or so years ago to teach persons the use of HoK paints, and it did just that. Sharing experience and knowledge is okay but I'd hate to see Doc Welty, Dave Butler and others out of business because persons take those 2 for granted on the BB and want every experience for free. As far as clipart, I been painting disney characters, automobile logos and what have you for years for persons who wanted them. I don't see anything wrong with some persons asking for this stuff and in reality you have never heard me ask for anything at all. Another thing is, I don't have a job, I'm totally self sufficient with doing what I love to do, and making money while I'm at it. Of course the downside is that I don't get to work as many hours as you do and can only work for 3 hours at a time due to my age but all in all, I'm a happy camper [Smile]

Don't quit your day job = (meaning) keep doing what your doing.
I have nothing but respect for what you do.
Who wouldn't be a happy camper making a living from a few hours here and there ... I would be ... and hope to be ... but it might take a few more years of stupid questions on my part to get there.
I've heard there's no such thing as a stupid question ... but questions meant to belittle people for asking stupid questions are pretty stupid questions.

OK, my bad, your site isn't ALL about one shot, just pages 4,6,7,9 and most of 3, maybe 8 too, doesn't say.
Do know it says clearing uros over oils is a "no-no" ... and I don't.
I turn a lot of work away because I don't know the chemistry and don't want to hack it out with wrong chemistry. Now if/when I do decide to learn that chemistry I will probably ask a bunch of reeaallllyyy stupid questions (just a heads up)

actually Mark, since there is no page 1, its 2 and 5 thats HoK and 1/2 of 3, 1/2 of 4 that are both. 6, 7 and 9 are 1-Shot using Chrom-a-flo. All the photos in 8 are with HoK, some of pages 6-7 and 9 are both 1-Shot and HoK for the bottom layers which dry faster. I just didn't want to confuse persons knowing that some of them would be signmakers.

Buy some HoK and find out for yourself how the stuff really works, you will marvel with it as everyone who uses it does. It actually makes life easier.

Thanks Joey...I learned a bunch reading the tutorials on your site.. [Smile]

All this time I thought it was ok to thin with MS....I had some OS reducer once, but the whole can turned to gel...why's that?

Anyway...I'll keep trying...

A:)

Adrianne, the 1-Shot reducer you speak about must be #6000 which is a flow enhancer as well as a reducer. I'm sure it contains resins which must be stored in a cool dry place otherwise it skins first then turns to gel, ChromaFlo is basically the same as #6000. Reducer is a funny word to use for a flow enhancer but reducer is what most persons understand but yet don't understand how to store their own paints and reducers. When someone mentions to use their refrigerator or freezer to store these products, it goes over their head. Usually you can keep the can of #6000 in a corner, on the concrete floor of your garage or shop but make sure you have the cap tightened down. Same goes for 1-Shots hardener as it too will harden without proper care.

Hope this helps [Smile]
