I'm near to delivering 10 4' x 10' banners. I normally like to roll them around empty vinyl cores so the banner doesn't buckle in the wrong places, but for 10, I don't have enough cores for delivery. They'll be sending them to distributers for their product at different times, so that's why I prefer to package each banner separately. Not sure of a better way. Any ideas?
Curious on how others package their signs and banners for delivery. Thanks!

Donna, can you wrap paper in between them if they all get wrapped together? or use wrapping paper tubes with something stuffed inside the tube to reinforce? I saved all my vinyl tubes when I lived in Ohio, and gave some to the scouts, but realized I had over 100 of them in the rafters! They are strong, and will accommodate a longer banner. I saved the boxes too, as they were excellent for shipping too.

Hey Donna, go to the back of your nearest carpet store and look for the dumpster. Bring a hacksaw, and cut all the 4 footers you need. The cores that carpet comes on is the same size as vinyl cores. FreeeeeeBeeeeeee!

LOL Tim!!!! Great idea, now I can finally delegate a job to my husband that he's qualified to carry out!
Deb, I'm a total scrounge when it comes to boxes in good shape of all sizes. Makes packing a breeze I agree! (and saves me time inventing something) Wow... 100 tubes, wish I could say that!
Thanks Mike, didn't think of shipping tubes. If the carpet stealing/scrounging doesn't work out, I'll have to price your suggestion out.

I would just lay a few of the banners on top of each other and roll them up together over one core tube. Or am I misunderstanding and that is too easy? Awning companies have lots of the cores, and they throw them out. ========================================= I ran across the neatest new thing for turning a banner over to a customer. A custom roll of white plastic sheaths - either 40 some inches for three footers or 50 some inches for four footers. Unrolls and dispenses like the plastic bags for produce in the grocery store. Your logo is imprinted on them over and over about 6 inches long. People can store the banner in them after use. And keeps your name in front of them. About 40 cents a piece.

Tim's carpet tubing is a great freebie idea! If your luck is as good as mine, when you get there they will inform you that it just went to the incinerator 10 minutes ago.
PVC pipe is not that expensive and is easily cut into lengths needed.

Myra, my banner customer is not the end user of the banners. They are sending the banners individually to different distributors of their product. I didn't want my customer 'folding' up the banners indivudually to send off and have them come back to me due to damage because they weren't stored properly.
we use a company called "Uline". we buy boxes for the banners long and square(4"x4"x60"). the # is 1800-295-5510. they are a nation wide company. i think they will work fine for you and you can build in into the cost, they cost us $2.40 each. they are ment for shipping. check out there catologe they have alot of other cool shipping cartons ect. if you have more quetion e-mail me.

Paul's right about the landed costs from ULine---I used them once, and the products were great, but it cost waaaaaay more than we budgeted.
When in a pinch like this, call your vinyl supplier---10 tubes isn't that big a deal. I used to do that and they'd always help me out once in awhile...

Hi Donna; We go to the local plumbing shop and pick up 3 0r 4 inch sewer pipe just 2-3 inches wider than the banner and have them put a spin cap on one end and a perment cap on the other...we roll up the banners and drop them in and they are well protected...We also letter the tube with the logo and adress of the company....when the company sends the banner out to one of there branches for use they tape an envelope over it with the adress to where it is being shipped....when they are done with it they ripe off the envelope reveling the perment adress for return shipping...When we quote the banner or banners we quote the cost of one of these tubes as well ..we have found very few who turn down having the tubes even just for their own storage...Just and idea for ya....Pat
