This fun gift shop I painted last week has some really cool stuff...that's what the place is called 'STUFF'

Anyway, I popped in to visit with the nice lady there, and saw this little item......
What do you suppose it might be...?

Seeing my reaction to finding this item, she said she'll put it aside for me...... A:)

It's a slot car box. Room for all your "STUFF" and 3 cars under the drawers. The fold down front acts as a small workspace. A used box that size would sell for between $50. & $100. in this area.

I assumed it was someone's well loved signkit...but there isn't any trace of paint or oil on it hmmm.....
The outside looks quite old, and I think the corners or really cool, will be nice to polish it up and start using it for a signkit.

Maybe I'll bring it to meets and get everyone to put a little something on it. (if I'd only had this 4 years ago!!!)

She wants $75....maybe a bit too much, but these are hard to find.

Now......

Let's see YOUR sign kits and tell me what I should put in mine!......

A:)

I'll second the request for a list of what to put into a paint kit. As a beginner, that would be great information.

Thanks for your help.

BRUSHES!!!!! hahahahahaha after seeing the sign kits of the pros...MONTY, C.J., GEO PERKINS,PAT KING just to name a few that stand out(ther are a bunch more)its hard to even try to set one up like theres.....but they been at it for 30 years....and each brush has a usage! i can tell you for a starter would be 4 -8 quills, #2, 4, 6, 8, 10. if you want to double this and get 1 set of browns and 1 of grays. truck flats in 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4, 1". fitches from 1/2 to 1 1/2. couple of stripping swords...if you know how/wish to learn pinstriping. you need 1/2 pints 1-SHOT of the basic 8-10 color for now....get more paint as you need it. gal of turps/mineral spirits. an empty cat food can, coffee can to clean brushes in. small bottle with a squirt top(for turps) most use small paper cups, i use plastic 3 partition picnic plates. oh and the ability to use these....you have go to meets and get it from monty, geo, p king.....heheheheheheheheee or PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE.........

That cool box is definitely worth $75. Just imagine building it yourself. How much would you ask for it?

Looking at it & thinking about how long it would take me (I'm a decent carpenter); I would wan't more than $75 for sure.

It's a model race car with with an electric motor. On the bottom of the car there is a guide that looks like a rudder on a boat. The guide rides in a groove {aka "slot"} cut into a track. Hence the name "slotcar". The "driver" uses a handheld device to control speed. The tracks mimic real race courses - oval, drag and road race.

Some of the cars are are really fast. For example the fastest will cover a scale 1/4 mile {1/24 scale}in less than 1/2 second at an actual speed of about 115 miles per hour.

My son makes and sells these boxes at a local track. Some of the more elaborate ones are cut on our router. He also sells paint masks and decals that he designs in SignLab and Corel. It's a great learning experience for him.

Picked up the box today, she agreed to do a trade, I get the box now, and I touch up her home made A-frame sign this weekend.

It's really heavy, and it's EMPTY!!!! [Eek!]

Have no idea how I'm going to carry it when it's full....guess I need to look for an old Radio Flyer now!! [Razz]

Oh...on the bottom it has these funny little ball bearing type of wheel thingies....!
