It's a slot car box. Room for all your "STUFF" and 3 cars under the drawers. The fold down front acts as a small workspace. A used box that size would sell for between $50. & $100. in this area.

I assumed it was someone's well loved signkit...but there isn't any trace of paint or oil on it hmmm..... The outside looks quite old, and I think the corners or really cool, will be nice to polish it up and start using it for a signkit.
Maybe I'll bring it to meets and get everyone to put a little something on it. (if I'd only had this 4 years ago!!!)
She wants $75....maybe a bit too much, but these are hard to find.
Now......
Let's see YOUR sign kits and tell me what I should put in mine!......

Barb It's a model race car with with an electric motor. On the bottom of the car there is a guide that looks like a rudder on a boat. The guide rides in a groove {aka "slot"} cut into a track. Hence the name "slotcar". The "driver" uses a handheld device to control speed. The tracks mimic real race courses - oval, drag and road race.
Some of the cars are are really fast. For example the fastest will cover a scale 1/4 mile {1/24 scale}in less than 1/2 second at an actual speed of about 115 miles per hour.
My son makes and sells these boxes at a local track. Some of the more elaborate ones are cut on our router. He also sells paint masks and decals that he designs in SignLab and Corel. It's a great learning experience for him.
