Hi!I work in a vinyl sign/screenprinting shop. I have always aspired/and worked towards having my own business.(Tired of working for the "man" and receiving no thanks).
I have the opportunity to buy a used Ioline Super 88 vinly cutter at a great price.
I need to find some software for it, the existing flexisign software it uses will not work
on my 'puter due to the "key". It costs sooo much to upgrade or for new software!
A few years ago I recieved info in the mail about a software design/cut program that was only $299. I disregarded it at the time but wish I knew more now! Can anyone tell me more about the $299 software or anything that can help my delema. I sure would appreciate you!

You may have several affordable options.

Via this bullboard, I have heard good things about Vinyl Master Pro, although I have never used the program since I have two site licenses for Flexi and one for SignLab. VMP is a merchant here. Click on "Letterville Merchants" and check them out.

Also, CorelDRAW is compatible with some plotters, enabling a person to cut directly from Corel. I think Dave Grundy is one of the resident experts on that.

That was cocut used with corel draw and its now around 399. but. its well worth it. It saves me so much in aggravation and not having to know "special" tricks to make it run great.

Thanks for the mention Dave!!

Actually, Joe Pribish/"Old Paint" was the one who introduced me to cutting from Corel..Unfortunatly He can't type worth a $hit, so I translated his ideas into an understandable set of instructions. [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes]

(HAHAHHAAHAHAHA..Sorry Joe!!!!!!)

The REAL expert on anything Corelean and cutting from Corel is Gail Beattie! AND SHE IS CUTE TOO! [Wink] [Wink]

As far as cutting from Corel to an Ioline...I think Lazy Edna does it every day..I believe she exports or saves files in HPGL format and cuts from that format.

Unfortunately she doesn't visit the Bullboard anymore, so I can't be sure if that info is correct.

Go to www.anagraph.com.Download Anaplot for free. It's a bridge program that works with any ai. file.Just import your file and cut away.Been using it for years.I have also purchased Flexi and Signlab but still use anaplot for most of my work.It has most of the drivers with it.If yours isn't included getin touch with me and I can help with setup.

Go to this site for directions for cutting directly from Corel usng the Ioline Super 88:

http://www.ioline.com/tech/s88-clsc_faq.html

Also, beware of the used Ioline Super 88's or the "older" Studio 8's that some people are trying to pawn off as Super 88's. They're not all apples for apples. Some guys who (dearly) want to buy a Super 88 suggest that they're only worth $600 to $900 to try to drive their real worth down. What I'm saying is...Yeah there are a couple of "overworked" ones out there around that price. I've done extensive research and my findings suggest that a good-running about years old one with roller stand is worth about $1800 to $2000K which is what I just sold one of my two Super 88's for.

There are also cheaper plotter deals out there from various sources. I just have a problem with buying used equipment without a solid history behind it.

Pierre,

When things get ‘spensive, I get pensive. Speaking of covering up chins...

Three years ago, I was flying back from El Paso in my Cherokee after having installed a sign package there. About 2 AM, my buddy and I stopped at Abilene, TX for fuel and spied a NICE Lear jet on the tarmac. As Jon was drooling over the kerosine burner, I went into the FBO, immediately encountering the largest chin in the history of mankind. I thought: “There is only ONE chin like that on the planet–Jay Leno!” I offered to trade keys with his pilot, touting the fuel savings of switching to a Piper. Jay’s entourage would not fit in a four seater and, considering they were NASCAR folk, they snootily decided my airplane was too slow. No deal.

It would take an awfully big hand to cover a zit on that chin.

Dave, I just happened to notice that you have your hand to your chin in your member pix. Hiding something? A zit, maybe? A Van Dyke? Hmmmm?

Kidding of course!

Maybe I cut myself shaving that day... well, since I use an electric, that is not likely. The electric, however, is specifically designed to grab each whisker individually and bend it back and forth until it either snaps off or pulls out. It does its job well.

Barb bugged me about a photo for a while. I sent her one of Robert Redford but she didn’t buy that... something about not being born yesterday. I sent her one of Alfred E. Newman and she didn’t post that one either, she probably felt it was too close a likeness.

I’m not exactly the most photogenic person on the planet. The photo posted actually looked pretty good in its original composition, but after being sliced, diced and cropped to fit, you all ended up subjected to the ham fisted likeness shown. One of these days, we’ll try again with the digital camera so that everyone can go back to making fun of Old Paint’s picture. Besides, I think that picture makes me look too smug.
