I've been out running around town all day and now get a chance to sit and chill out... decided to see how hot it was here today.. and then checked the weather in some of the "infamously" hot humid oppressive areas of the US.. lookie what I found.. check those dew points and the heat indices (indexes?) And the weather in my area which is recorded in Needles, CA is actually about 40 miles away and is usually about 5 degrees COOLER than it actually is in my town (Lake Havasu City).

But I'm not complainin', I'd take the heat over having to deal with rain, snow, earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes any day!

Tornatoes, are they anything like Potatoes?

We don't deal with those other things either Mike, but our weather is so much better then your weather and here is the pass it doesn't rain anywhere near as much as the rest of the northwest. As a matter of fact we haven't had rain since April and not going to have rain til the end of September. Even then we get less then 25 inches of rain per year and yet never snows. OK granted, your tempertures hit 130º+ wow ain't that nice [Smile] and as the wind picks up the sand etc [Smile] wow, ain't that nice! So we get a little 105º once in a while, at least we can cool ourselves off in the lush green mountains where the river runs here on the Rogue. [Smile]

I used to live in Oregon. So Joey, are you saying it only rains from September until April? that sounds like the Oregon I remember [Smile] less then 25 inches? OK 24" in 8 monthes, I guess that's 3" per month or about 1/10" of an inch per day - every day... actually that slow & steady drizzle sounds like the Oregon I remember too [Smile]

In all honesty, I have nothing but good memories from Oregon. (well as far as the weather anyway)

less than 25 inches of rain per year? that's probably 8 times as much as we get here.. in other words, too much for me!! [Smile]

Doug, living in Oregon and living in Grants Pass Oregon is like living in Maui then comparing the weather to Hilo. Get the picture?

Mike, I like the paint on my vehicles just the way it is. If I wanted to live on sand, I'd move to Tahiti! If I'm not mistaken, your rainfall is approximently 5 inches per year but those dust and sand storms aren't really good for my cars. At a little more then 3 times the amount of rain, our rivers are nice and the forests stay green.

We hit 121º yesterday and I was thinking about you Mike. You may like it but I would give just about anything to get out of this god-forsaken sandtrap that I'm living in. It was only 119º today. One advantage, I've lost 9 lbs recently because it's too damn hot to eat - all I do is drink water.

Like a friend of mine said, I don't have to worry about going to hell, I live there already.

Kimberly, I lived in Fresno for 5 years, the middle of a dust bowl. Summers lasted a good nine months with no hope of rain. I always said, "hey, at least it ain't humid". It's amazing what people can get used to, no way could I endure it now. Then again the rains up here drive some people bonkers.

We're in the "dog days" here in Texas now, too. General Sherman was stationed in Texas for a while after the Civil War. He stated later that if he owned Texas and Hell, he would rent out Texas and live in Hell.
