Hey Mike. Stop and stay for awhile. We are 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Nevada City/ Grass Valley is in the heart of the Gold Rush; with some of the largest, and most productive mines in the country. One hour from Sacramento, two and a half from San Francisco. Its not much, but your welcome anytime.

Hola Mike, hey if your going down south to the L.A. area, I live about 8 minutes from the 99 freeway, Fresno is in the middle of the state. I can give you a mini tour of some of things I have done around here like this... http://franciscovargas.com/signage.htm or
I have an extra room, nothin fancy, so if you need a place to crash before you head out, "mi casa es su casa" I have a Cabańa so we do drink a beer now and then, but I do grow my own mint tea in case you want some, or I can get some sodas. Food, well...I can get my lady neighbor friend to make us a dinner, she's a good cook. Let me know ahead of time what your favorite Mexican food is and I'll see that it can get made (if you like Mexican food) if not I have couple of neighbors across town, one who is an Italian lady, a Greek, an Asian, a German lady...just kiddinnnnn I should probably mention this because I'm not sure what part of September you'll be by, but I'm pretty sure I'll be in Long Beach on the 18-20 for the sign show over there. Anyway have a safe trip, drive careful, most of all have fun and enjoy your trip to the max...Cisco

If you're staying at ADDrienne's, better take your own firewood.

Cisco! I love all Mexican Food! The BBQ would be great!
We are looking at right after the meet, (Sept 21) Because of Time constraint, we will be coming back on September 29th. So, we figure after the meet, we would fly to SanFrancisco then drive to Sacramento and then Lake Tahoe, then back to San Francisco to fly home.....It looks as if We won't have enough time to get as far south as we wanted.
I'd like to drive but that's a LOOONG haul...What do you West Coasters think?
We are totally open to whatever works!
Let me know yur thoughts!

Your arms sure are gonna be tired flying all that way.
You should at least see the nasty Seattle traffic (I mean space needle). There is all sorts of schtuff to see around here. If you are into planes we've got plenty of Boeing factories around here not to mention the air & space museum. 747, 767, & 777 factory about 10 miles from my house (largest building by volume in the world). Plenty of micro brew houses, Mariners, I don't know if the coffee giants (Seattles Best & Starbucks) have tours but could check into it if you'd like. Anyway, decisions, decisions... In anycase, looking forward to meeting you at the meet. Next time you come out you'll need to stay awhile

Hello Big Mike, Kristi & I are north of SF about 30-40min. which will get you a free trip over the golden gate, once over the gate it's a short trip to Petaluma the home of the Percell Signs, the MicroMeet, and of late, Letterhead Sign Supply.
Plus there's a shortcut to Hwy 80 to Sacramento in our town that will take your thru the wine country and that makes up the difference in time, and sure beats the industrial freeway routes you'll be taking.
You'll pass Sausalito, high end tourist trap, home of Yuppies & Hot tubs, great cafe views of San Francisco Bay Area in Marin country
Were in historical Petaluma, about 15 min. south of Stebbings place.
Petaluma is where the California Constitution was drafted by the Spanish General "Vallejo", his fort is 10 east of us.
Petaluma is also one of the film site for American Grafitti, and Peggy Sue Got Married(I did alot of the period piece work for the sets).
20 mins west is the Pacific Ocean and the historic town of Bodega Bay, most reconized in the Movie "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock. Bodega Bay also feature some great seafood restuarants.
Good Luck and Have a Safe Trip. Ron

Yes we are having the meet this year it will be Sept. 19 - 21st, and we would love to have you come up!
Also, our daughter Kiersten picked up a book called "The Speedball Textbook" and your Dad's A-Z poster is in it, so I told her all about you, and she was so excited! So if you do make it, beware that you will have a big fan!
Give us a call at 800-531-3359, if you have any questions relating to the meet.

Oh Mike! If you fly to San Fran you'll be flying over some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. If you drive you can make a short jaunt east of Portland and see the awesome Columbia Gorge with it's towering waterfalls, Multnomah Falls being the most famous. You can take a dinner cruise on a sternwheeler up the river. Also there is a lookout pavillion high on a cliff that's a great place to watch the sunset. Plus, beautiful Mt. Hood is the back-drop for all this. Further south, in Joeys part of the country, you can take a jet boat ride down the world famous Rogue River and Hell Gate canyon. Then there's Ashland Oregon, home of the annual Shakespearian Festival. Over the Siskiyous you'll pass Castle Crags and Mt. Shasta and Lake Shasta. Or you could cut over at Grants Pass - where the Rogue River is - and drive down the California coast through the Giant Redwoods and then on into wine country. Make sure you stop and see Rick Sacks and then further down the Percells. They are both right on the way. I'm here in Roseburg Oregon, right on I-5 so if you come by here I'd love to meet you. We have an extra room you're welcome to use. Wait, I think I can trust you. LOL, seems like every body on this post does anyway. Seriously, consider driving. There is a lot to see along the way.

Good call on the BBQ @ Jackie's. That alone will be worth the trip. I supose I'll invite myself up there again! The Rubicon Trail, about the most famous Jeep trail around is within a couple hours of us and My wifes rig should be running by then. Maybe we could runn out for the day. Its near Tahoe between Georgetown and Tahoe. 18 miles that usualy takes three days to drive the entire trail. Lots of fun!

Mike, If you fly into SF and drive to Sacto and Tahoe, you'll see the same stuff you see everywhere else. Flatland, some hills, a mountain and housing developments and big box stores and malls.

Mike, There is an ocean here. There are coastal villages that are very different than what you find elsewhere. There are mountain ranges. There are lush valleys with vinyards and wineries and olive orchards and fields of lavender, with roads lined with antique roses. When I travel, I usually want to find something unique, and return home with memories of different worlds. I was not intending to bum you out, but awaken your curiosities to greater wonders.
SF bay is a marvelous place for sailing. You can travel through the Napa Valley enroute to Sacto. Tahoe is stunning, with decent fishing also. I hope your vacation fills you with peace and satisfaction, sending you home with a refreshed vision.
