yes and no. the pnc-960 was a roland what they call PRO version. as was most of the PNC cutters. on the outside you cant tell one from the other. internally is the big diff. the cx-24/cm-24 was roland answer to vinyl express low price. roland made the guts for the vinyl express and the lower priced cm/cx 24 is the roland version of that same machine. the PNC series internals are all steel ball bearings pressed onto shafts, when you lose a bearing in one of these..you have to replace the whole shaft. the cm/cx 24 are nylon/composite bearings...which will wear out sooner, but replacement is simpler. best way to understand this is to go to www.rolanddga.com and go to legacy products, and look at the specifacation on each machine. my PNC-1100 is the equivilent of the cm-300 todays model. downforce is one of the determining factors....most rolands are 200 grams, the PRO machines....are 300-350. the cx/cm 24 is 200.
