Most of you know I've moved back to West Virginia, where they do it the old way, period.
Well, my projector bulb blew out and I went everywhere and no one had one, of course.
I jumped on Google and typed in ' E Y B '...the three letters on the bulb. up pops a page that tells me these things run #24.81 a piece. On this same page...it said that they were on sale for a bit so I got 4 of em for $17.52. (they had a $15.00 minimum) Adding on shipping, brings it to $22.24.
I tried the 800 number but it was a bit after 5pm and I had to email to beat the clock.
So on the order...in the comments field, I mentioned...please process this order as soon as possible as I'm in the middle of a job and on hold till it gets here!
Well, these guys send the confirmation immediately.
While I'm reading that...another email comes in that says, hay we appreciate your business. We have your stuff in stock and it's going out in 24 hours!
The next second, here comes a third email with a URL link to track my order.
These guys didn't have to do all that for me. But it sure did make an impression on me!
Service sells!
After a long week of playing road warrior in the rain to all ends of the mtns for this, oh baby...I gotta catch my breath! Wow...it pays to pray, earnestly!

There are no two ways about it - if someone gives me excellent service they will get my repeat business - REGARDLESS OF PRICE.
On the flip side of the coin, I call the local big name pharmacy this morning to get a prescription refilled and first the guy gives me an attitude because I didn't use the automated refill line. Then when I try and explain to him that there are things I need to tell him about my insurance which is WHY I didn't use the automated line, he cuts me off and doesn't let me finish telling him what I needed to. He starts to explain to me all about how I can only get a 30 day supply and ...I FINALLY break through his schpiel and tell him that if he had bothered to listen to what I had to say in the first place he would KNOW that I didn't want him to put it through the insurance because WITHOUT the insurance, I can get a 100 day supply for 1/3 less cost.
Why the hell don't people LISTEN anymore? He was so caught up in which buttons he needed to push on his computer that that idea that he was actually talking to a real person seemed to escape him.
I KNOW that it doesn't have to be that way - big company or not - the Target near us in Los Angeles had a pharmacy and the head pharmacist there knew everyone's name, greeted you politely and actually acted like she cared about why you were there and that she was glad that you patronized her store.
Because of my insurance, IT DOESN'T MATTER where I get my scripts filled - it's still gonna be the same price - whomever is nice and polite to me wins that one.
The culture of Wal-Mart and its cheap, cheap, cheap prices has led to a world where people think that if they have the cheapest prices that is all that matters. You know what? The Wal-Mart right by our house is closing and every single person I have talked to in our area is HAPPY about it.

Linda, it's great to find suppliers that actually know what the term "customer service" means. Too bad a good supplier is quickly becoming an endangered species.

The price was just a fringe benefit. The fact that I could find it so easy and the service was impeccable just blew me away. I had Google right here all along. It just took me a while to have the common sense to look up those latters on the bulb. Where else would they show up? Well, if you type them in, you'll see for yourself ha ha ha!
I was just so excited. I thought those who were honing their service skills could take note and I was offering the tip to those looking for something particular to cut their search time down a bit.
When I was in the stores with "experts" on the other side of the counter from me, they typed in replacements bulbs/lamps etc. For some reason they couldn't do the E Y B thing. It must have been a store policy, not to make it easy for the customer. So of course, I couldn't wait to get home to try it!
The novelty is wearing thin at the moment as I'm scaling my artwork up till it gets here.
I'll see you guys on chat at some point...when I take a coffee break.
