I run a small shop, at lateley have out-sourced a ton of digital banners. I am looking into purchasing my own machine. I do not need a very wide format machine. I was looking into the Encad VinylJet 36. I have a Roland Color Camm & an Edge, but neither print on banner material. I have also had a few req. for truck wraps, and I want to be able to meet my customers needs. The plus side to the Encad, is 3 year outdoor, and I like the rest of the features. If anyone has any feedback, or suggestions I would appreciate it. Thank you all in advance!

This machine looks interesting. Is the "3 years outdoor" prefaced by "up to"?

This a machine that we have been watching and anticipating. Seemed too good to be true.

Well, it is. While the prints are imperious to water, it seems that Windex will remove the prints.

I can get the same outdoor results and warranty if I over laminate the GO inks on the 736 I already have. Why spend 14K to have to overlaminate anyways?

This machine is not ready for prime time yet.

Well I haven't tested the machine or prints yet, but the plus side of it is that it does print to uncoated vinyl, you don't need any special material (at higher cost).

For most applications you should laminate your prints anyway, even if you are using thermal or solvent, always on permanent vehicle applications.

To save money on this though, with the longer durability inks (solvent, thermal, eco-solvent, vinyljet), you can just use a clear sign vinyl, rather than a higher cost laminate material.
