Hey everyone,

Does anyone know of a supplier that stocks the new diamond plate vinyl? My regular distributor can't get their hands on it yet and I would really like to use it on an import that I have coming in.

Ryan, Yes! One of our own merchants, Signwarehouse.com has it. It is made by Endura and has a 5 yr. outdoor life. Available in 10 or 30 yd. rolls. Give them a call or go to their website. Let's support those who support us at Letterville. I think you will like their service.

A word of caution though, I have the diamondplate from signwarehouse & have done some cool stuff with it. It is not really vinyl though. It is a very thick surface like Tedlar or something, with a metallic film behind it that is practically part of the adhesive it is so thin. If you try to remove it, only the tedlar (or whatever it is) comes off leaving a silvery gluey mess, kind of like signgold... anyway I digress, that is not the caution I refer to, it is that this material WILL NOT CONTOUR TO CURVES WELL!

So I don't know what kind of import you got coming in, you could find a nice flat spot on a car door, but if you are using it on a bike, I'm guessing you may need something more flexible. Bergans Metal Mania custom fill designs on CD include some nice diamondplate fill designs in gold silver & even colors I think. They can be printed on HP vinyl & will give the durability & conformability you would expect from vinyl. (Although I know some of the serious degreasers can spoil an edge print)

If interested in the Bergan Designs option check www.4edgetalk.com where BD is a sponsor & you can check the gallery page for some recent posts about this product. You also may find a vendor to sub that printing out to if you don't do digital stuff, or don't want to buy the CD.

Just take the easy way out.. put the diamond plate over another color vinyl so it's easier to remove.

Neschen has an even newer diamond plate material that looks even more like the real thing than the stuff sign warehouse carries.

I also get my diamond plate vinyl from Signwarehouse.com, if you call speak to Wendy, she is great. Someone mentioned Bill Bergins fills, if you are looking for a diamond plate fill with a varity of colors, goto cadlink.com (I think), they offer GREAT fills for only $79.00!!! There more than worth the price!!! I suggest anyone with an edge/color output looks at this product. P.S. I am a first time poster.. hop I did this right!!! Any questions, please send me a e-mail!

Sharpline Converting makes a printed diamond plate as well as carbon fiber and checkered flag print..even camo. It's not quite as clear as a nice digital print but looks good a few feet away. The type Doug mentioned, I have used before with regrets.

For a few strange and different vinyls, diamond plate included, try Coburn Graphic Films, Inc. www.coburn.com

Most of the vinyl that they produce are Edge ready as well.

Don't see the diamond plate on the website during a quick look, but the latest catalog that I have from them shows it as available.

Hope this helps!

Well I ended up finding the diamond plate at Harbor sales. It is Coburn series film (24"x10-$104.98). I guess i will take Mike's route and lay the diamond plate outline overtop of the primary flame so it can be removed. (thanks for the tip Mike)
Thanks for the help everyone!

Ps. Is the durability a true 5 years?
It is a show car and not a daily driver, so I'm hoping i can at least get 3 out of it.

Ryan I dont know about the lifespan, but given it's going on an import "show car" I think if it lasts one show season you're doing OK.. they'll probably replace the graphics for next season. [Smile]

I really wouldnt expect it to last any better than the chrome polyesters outdoors.

Word to the wise---I have had three failures or more from two of the endura gloss metallics--including the diamondplate. The clear laminate detaches in several places, usually beginning at sharp corners. I have lost serious $$$ to this--Just wanted to let you all know....

You may also want to try the edge sealer pen, works pretty good.

I just got the samples of this stuff too, I saw it in Atlantic City last year it was the Corburn stuff, which I have been using their sudo-signgold stuff for a while, so I thought ' this is cool, yeah I can use this for that welders truck Im doing.... hmmm the possiblities...endless.
I also got a brand new sample of I think FDC which has the even better looking version. WARNING on that stuff IT IS NOT a repeating pattern, every 4 feet on the roll it has a odd line going down the whole width of the roll, I dont know why but I definetly like pattern better, its more realistic.
