I have a hp 2000cp and have been using dye ink for printing art work.I have been thinking about changing over to uv ink. But have been reading about the uv ink not being as bright as the dye ink.Can you really see the difference between the two? thanks gene blanton

I have a 3500cp, and I use UV inks most of the time. Longevity became more of a concern than Gamma range. You'll have to look at your needs, and those of your cusyomers, if 90% of your work is temporary-indoor stick with Dye, it is a bit brighter. If your work is permanent in nature or outdoor, go with UV. Changeover takes time, particulatly if the heads you are putting into the machine havent been used in a while, and UV inks seem to dry out a bit in the heads if not used regularly. Before reinserting either dye or UV heads I've found it practicle to 'clean' the heads by forcing ink through the head by 'pounding' the head into a lint free cloth which I hold in my 'other' hand. If necessary you can clean a particularly clogged head with isopropanol and a q-tip let it soak in a little, then resume pounding. Also clean the contacts on both the head and the machine with isopropanol on q-tip.
In five years I haven't lost a head, and I've recovered a few that I thought were beyond hope.

I just bought a 2500. Where is a good place to buy UV inks? Someone on the board recommended a good place for the other inks and I ordered a magenta, got it for $121. and the service was great. I never asked them to see if they have the UV and how much they would be.
