Hi Folks, Have a customer that wants text painted on warehouse floor. Will be subject to forklift traffic. Digital floor graphics too costly. Floor is about 6 months old. Power trowelled smooth.
We are going to paint a yellow panel on the floor and add black lettering on top of that.
Any suggestions on process or painting technique to use would be much appreciated.
I've done several similar jobs on warehouse floors with 1-Shot (Double Roller Coated Background) (Double Coated lettering with a black fitch) and they have held up as well as could be expected considering the wear they get.

I'll bet Pierre could tell you if a few coats of Pelucid would protect that paint. That stuff is suppose to be tougher than nails and stick to everything except standing water.

Don't forget to etch the cement first. Sweep and clean the area with muratic acid. If you don't the paint won't last very long. Use only enamel paints. Latex paint will wash away in a month

As far as using Muratic Acid to etch the floor; it will only etch the silt and the and the top layer of the cement that it can get to. Any grease, paint of rubber deposits will require something like lacquer thinne for first prep. Then maybe detergent and water, and then M.Acid. Epoxy paints will last you much longer with a much stonger bond if you can build in the price to your customer. Otherwise oil base enamels like one shot. I suppose that this would make it easier to touch up later also. Bronzeo
