I have a customer that has a canopy over his entrance that he wants to change the color. It feels like vinyl, but the inside has a texture something like canvas.

The canopy is a maroon color that he wants red. It has his business franchise name in white letters. It feels totally smooth like the maroon was silk screened over white vinyl. Can this be painted? Can it be done while attached to the building? (He doesn't want to take it down) If it can be painted, can vinyl lettering be installed or would I be better off painting just the maroon area and leave the original lettering. Come to think of it... it might be pretty tricky trying to install vinyl while the canopy is up.

Thanks for the help.
