That show is on out here right now, but the grandkids are over tonight for a memorial day BBQ, & they want to watch disney channel. I might have to veto that for a quick listen to Wille!

I liked Toby Keith's comment about Willie not looking 70, but he remembered when he did! Real nice show. Time is sure passing. Leon Russel and Ray Charles were both completely grey, while Willie's hair was still red. But the beard was greyed, like mine.

For all Willie Nelson fans, why not see him live????
(Woohoo, also Jethro Tull will be here too)It is only 2 miles from me, downtown, so I won't miss it. (80 miles from Chicago, NW)
COUNTRY LEGEND GRACES WATERFRONT'S MAIN STAGE
One of country music's greatest legends is "On the Road Again," and he is coming to Rockford to perform at the 20th anniversary of the On the Waterfront Festival presented by Associated Bank. Willie Nelson will perform on the Miller Lite Great Lawn presented by Q98.5 on Thursday, August 28th, 2003. Reserved seat tickets for Willie Nelson go on sale Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 am at the MetroCentre Box office and all CentreEvents ticket outlets, by phone at 815-968-5222, or on the web at www.centreevents.com. Reserved seat tickets are $26.50 in advance and $31.50 the day of the show.
Gentleman Outlaw Willie Nelson didn't start out as a country star; in fact, his first ten years in the music industry were actually spent writing hit songs for other artists such as Patsy Cline ("Crazy") and Faron Young ("Hello Walls"). It wasn't until the mid-70's that Nelson joined the burgeoning outlaw country movement and really made a name for himself in the world of country music.
Nelson is truly one of the industry's most well-known and respected artists and is known for his many styles of music ranging from traditional pop to western swing, jazz, honky tonk and even rock & roll. His style has not only influenced the new generation of country but also left behind a legacy of classic songs and recordings that will be appreciated by future generations.
Some of Nelson's most popular songs consist of "On the Road Again", "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" and a rendition of Elvis' "Always on My Mind" which hit number one on the country charts and number five on the pop charts.
In 1985 Willie Nelson began to use his music to help others by founding Farm Aide. This organization has funded over $12 million for a variety of rural American causes. Money is raised through annual concerts and other donations. In 1993 Nelson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, but that was by no means the end of his singing career. He has continued to put out one album each year since his induction.
Willie Nelson's latest work came out in November of 2002, not only on CD, but also on television. "Willie Nelson & Friends: Stars and Guitars" matched Nelson with some of country and pop's greatest stars including Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Matchbox 20 and Dave Matthews. Nelson will now join the list of shows that have made 20 years of On the Waterfront history.

I saw Willie a few years ago at the Suwanee River Music park, with Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard on the same bill. The show started in the afternoon and continued on until about 1am. Willie arrived in the late afternoon in his bus, I think it's called Honeysuckle Rose, and that set the place abuzz. He came out several times before his scheduled performance, just kinda walked out on the stage and started playing with the band unannounced. His set came about ten o clock, and after it was over he stayed on the stage and just jammed. You can tell that guy just loves to play music. Haggard was great too........
I kept thinking, I'd like to make one of these guys a sign for their ponderosa, wherever that might be. Imagine, sitting in on a great once in a lifetime concert like that, and me out there thinking about signs........geeeezz, I must be hopeless............

Hey Jeff....who says ya can't make a sign for Willie? Go for it! Hey, betcha a dollar you'll find yourself an autographed CD in the mail soon thereafter.
I pride myself in being a charter Willy fan (and I always will be) BUT (Willy PLEASE forgive me)last nites show was the biggest piece of crap I've seen in a long long long time.
I think the concept was perfect for a private jam...and perfect as a birthday party...but music and entertainment quality...worthy of air time? Pure crappola!
The only person all nite that was in sync and in tune was Paul Simon...and I've not been a fan of his...ever!
Well living proof everyone sees (hears) things diffently.
Am I the only one that wasn't impressed? Well anyway...HAPPY BITRTHDAY WILLY!
