Our meet is around the corner and I am looking for some stools....and after looking into the rent...I have decided to buy some because we will be using them again....
so...I have checked ebay...etc....with no luck...and new ones run around 30-40 bucks(29"height) a piece....just seeing if there is any wooden stools out there any cheaper but will last. I am not much of a shopper so might there be any local sources like Walmart, unfinished furniture...etc...that you might suggest?
They don't need any finish or have to be elaborate....just functional!
Thanks!

Robert My father made ice fishing stools by making a plywood pentagon shape a couple inches bigger than the top of a five gallon pail. He cut a peice of foam the same shape and covered it with vinyl which he stapled to the underneath of the plywood. He traced the circle from the open side of the pail onto the back of this and screwed on three of those little rubber feet just inside the circle. He then attached a loop on the side. The top fits snugly into the open end of a five gallon pail. The stool is only about chair height when you use a five gallon pail, but if you go to a fast food place and ask for their oil containers they have ridges that will add 6" in height for each pail you stack. Most places around here give the empty containers away for free. They actually make a fairly solid stool, and you can remove the seat to keep stuff inside. You can stack them and hang the seats on a hook and they don't take up too much room. It may not be suitable for what you want, but they sure are handy for doing work out of the shop, because you can put all your supplies inside. Best of all they are nothing to make and almost free.

Robert, I've got some of those black metal folding ones that Rob mentioned from wal-mart and they are pretty neat for the price. They have a stock #11801 on the bottom.

Go to "Wally World" buy up a bunch of those nylon folding camp chairs...silk screen the meet logo on the back...sell them to anyone that wants one and recoup the cost. The ones that are left will fold up , fit in a bag and store easily.
Sounds like a good marketing idea to me...how bout you?
