while I'm there I'll also be painting my realistic fire on Jesse's personal black pickup truck. too cool Mike

You are the best man for this job. We'll be cheering you on!
(opps, I got Monster garage mixed up with that other show that does the custom bikes and has those ugly signs on the outside of the building, sorry, my mistake...edited it out.)
Maybe you can get their work too!
---just a suggestion, write an article about this, keep it under wraps, and seek out the magazine that will pay the most...cause this is a special project.

Too Cool, Too Cool, Too Cool, Too Cool, Too Cool!
But I'm talking about the recognition of being sought out and deemed 'worthy' enough of working on a high profile job. Like CJ says, he is just a guy after all, (at least I think thats what he meant). I watch that show and I often wonder if Jesse James would be cool to work with (for) or a real pain. I watch that other garage show, American Choppers, and I know for sure that Paul Sr guy is someone I would like to DECK about 87.9% of the time. But congratulations none the less, and give us the scoop after it's done. Too cool!

We don't have TV and I know somew folks in town that have satellite dishes and might be able to record it for me. Could someone tell me when and where this airs? Is it a network show? I'd like to see it.

Too kewl Mike...I know you been wanting to do this, I'm glad it came your way...glad to see Jesse realized your work speaks for itself.Go get em "Spyke".
I watch all Jesse's "Monter Garage" shows so I know I won't miss yours.
Congradulations Mike...

On a side note, the painting they have done on Monster Garage is not part of the $3,000 budget each project gets. The Discovery Channel foots the extras like wheels, paint and other dress-up stuff like that.. or so it goes according to the producers I talked to while they made a visit to Havasu to watch their School Bus/Pontoon boat contraption sink in the lake.

Way to go my friend! I told you so! Nah nah nah nah nah!
I also know that Rhonda (tell her I said Hi!) is getting some recognition for her sharing at meets. She sounds so wonderful through other people, not just you!
I couldn't be happier for you! (...unless you had a seasonal home in Australia! LOL)
PS - glad to see the *FOOMP* LOL

This post led me to your website, Mike, and I am awed at your talent and skill, and how creatively you are marketing your art.
Even though in all the replies my question of "Who is Jesse?"was never answered, and I also did not learn what a "Monster Garage" is, I (sort of) did put together what is happening and I, too am happy for your opportunity!!!

Truly great work, Michael. I visited your website. It does take a bit to impress me, but you did. Am I missing something? What's so funny about this thread?

Mike ~ Have some fun with it and before you grab the free tools and run. Talk to the string pullers around there about a show of your own. We get shows on quilting and shows on rubber-stamping. I want a CUSTOM PAINT and AIRBRUSH show. Even people who don't paint love to watch the art form develop, and to see the finished works. A PRO paint show would be good for the industry especially now with the new “fast and furious” wave. I want those young $ucks thinking paint over stickers. ( P.S. I dare you to sneak some pink in on Jessie’s project)

Mike, Do you have an "Air" date for that show? Is it at his shop in Long Beach? I wouldn't mind dropping by to take some pictures, if it's ok. Bob

Dana and I are very happy for you. You deserve all the accolades that come with your hard work and skill level. Too bad you had to leave here to obtain the fame you deserve... Does Seattle need another New York transplant sign painter? LOL!
Have a great one!

I too find little humor in this thread. Perhaps someone is a little envious and is trying to steal the thunder out of a truely amazing opportunity. Just my opinion.

Nope there's no envy going on here Bruce and Pierre, it's all irony. Here's a great opportunity for exposure but it's going to be foreshadowed by nasty attitudes and late payment (or no payment at all) - keep in mind the participants are SUPPOSED to be paid for their time). Seems Jesse, despite his fame, still cannot manage to pay his bills.
My info comes from 4 different sources, guys that have either worked on Monster Garage projects, supplied equipment for MG projects, or have dealt with Jesse in some other form and the story sounds the same.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, I plan on taking advantage of this opportunity and make an impression while I'm there. I'm also hoping I might catch the eye of other people in the industry for other projects. I don't mind donating my time and talent for the oportunity to go national even if its for only a few minutes. it's not the amount of time I'm there that matters but what image I can implant in that amount of time. we'll see if it works out. I'd say it's a pretty cool birthday present! I won't forget this one

A big congratulations Mike, what time does the show air? I guess it is on the Discovery channel. I have seen it before, but don't remember where.

I agree Mike Lavallee. Just the exposure from this is gonna be worth a million. This is one opportunity not to be passed up. If you get paid, its just icing on the cake.

Congrats Mike! No one deserves it more. You have worked very hard to get where you are. I'm thrilled for you.
Like Myra, I don't know who Jesse is nor have I ever seen Monster Garage, but you can bet I will find out. What are you going to do? With the name of that show perhaps a dragon wagon is in order. That last fridge you did at Joey's was a real killer.
Just be your normal (abnormal?) self and you will be the most entertaining guest they have seen!

I think - just musing - that no matter how big and famous somebody got, payment for services hired and rendered should be a given. A person who uses someone elses skills, the ones he or she makes a living with, and thinks a ride on the coat tails of fame is payment enough is lesser for it in my eyes.

Thanks for the links Myra. The bikes on the chopper site are awesome. However IMHO the ones that do have flames can't measure up to Mike's work. Of course some of those bikes are best left as are...treasures.
