When you buy a new computer have them install your old hard drive as a second drive. You should be able to access your files that way. If you have another computer just have the old hard drive installed in it as a second drive. With a windows pc you probaly can only use a drive from a windows pc, not sure about a mac.

Sounds like the motherboard is/has failed. Hard drives should be OK. Take it to your local computer guru, and have him build you a newone, and install the hard drives in the new one.If the hard drives are also old, have him copy them onto newer ones.
You have gotten your money's worth out of a 9 year old computer!

Randy, I would pull the HD and take it to someone to read as a slave and see what you have. If it has all your filework, I would go get a new system and slave it to it and copy the files to the new HD. It's time...... Jack

Do you get any beeping noises when you start up?
A single short beep reflects normal.
Three long beeps signify memory.
One long, and two short beeps; video.
This could be a number of things, including BIOS chip, Processor, heat, and so on.
If you like I have hundreds of old processors, and if you need one, let me know, I'll send you one. I have an Intel 133MHz, and all the way up to 266MHz.
I have a machine thats been around since 1987, a 286/16MHz. Runs like a champ still. All I use it for is a print and plotter server.
Also I have a machine for sale. Its a PIII/500Mhz with 64MB RAM, I'll let it go for cheep. You can probibly use you old monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
