Right over our head. They, 5 large tornados hit about 6 of our smaller surrounding towns or about 2000 people each. Six people have died within 5 miles of home, and several more about 40 miles away. Pierce City is a town that has some association with David Wright's ancestory. The downtown area (a very historical one) was demolished they say. I will probably drive over to see it today.

Update, I guess at least 28 deaths now and still more expected. I also won't be able to get into downtown Pierce City, except on foot.

About the same here, but no local deaths. We had 30 to 40 mph winds, but no real damage. The rough part hit a few small towns around us, but skipped over when it got here. I had a lot of limbs to pick up before I could drive to the shop this morning. The only real damage was it blew the wreath off the front of the house, along with the 6 baby Mud-Wrens and their nest. I found the wreath in the yard, but found no sign of the nest or birds.

We are still under a tornado watch until noon today.

My wife just told me that she had a friend taken by the twister. I've heard of this before, but they found her over 20 miles down the path. Her husband and 2 children survived. She lived the closest to our home, maybe 4 miles North. We have ended up losing more people than we did in the war with Iraq.

Jack

My GodSons live just around the corner from you in Golden City. They were spared, but their Grandma lost her office in Pierce. So glad she wasn't IN it when they hit.

I'd take an Earthquake ANYday over one of them Twisters.
