We just finished our first routered sign, and the paint puddled around the letters. When the rest of the sign was painted, the "puddling" showed up......What to do?

Rick when ever we paint backgrounds on routed or sandblasted stuff we always use a brush. After painting we go back with a dry brush and paper towel. We clean up the heavy spots and puddles. Wipe you brush on the paper towel as you go to keep it kinda dry. Doesn't take long and keeps you from getting puddle around the letters.

I do the same thing Steve...except I paint the sign on a incline. This helps to concentrate the excess paint, and, you can see where it puddles better.
Rick, as far as fixing your problem, without seeing the actual sign, I would say that you will have to back up a step and get that excess paint off of there. Get in there with some rags and break the skin of the puddles and wipe away any extra paint. For small areas like the inside of an A, use Q-tips or a small fitch. It will be messy so have a lot of rags on hand. You may be able to wipe off the raised letters as you go, but it may be easier to just repaint everything again.
I feel your pain...Good luck !!
