This evening we sat down and had a friendly visit with our friends and agreed on the terms to purchase 1.5 acres of land with an old house.
The deal should be complete within 30 days.
Construction of our new shop and studio will start in the beginning of July. Imagine.... the shop and studio I've been dreaming of for the last 30 years at long last!!!!
When our other property sells we will build a new house to replace the 80 year old farm house. currently on the property. It's small and old but very livable in the short term.
The land has some gorgeous massive trees (maples and walnuts and fruit trees) and a spectacular view of the mountains to the southeast. It's on the main drag of a quiet little downtown thats a whole two blocks long. My kind of town.
The post office, grocery store, gas station, cafe and credit union are a whole block away. The fire hall is across the street and its less than 10 minutes from Giggle Ridge on a busy day.
The land is level (until we reshape it) and it is surrounded on three sides by larger acreages which give us real privacy and the freedom to build our dream.
I think it's gonna be a fun ride!

The delii is still there although I haven't had a chance to sample things there yet. You've given me another good reason to love living there.
Philippe... here's a pic of the view I will have from my large studio windows. It will actually be built on the other side of the shed in the pic so my view will have no structures to impede it. I took the picture this morning with the sun in my eyes (and the camera lens) so its a little washed out. I've seen folks paragliding off the peak and they land in the field behind us.

I keep pinching myself... to hard to believe its not just a far away dream any more.
Even though its way way off my normal route right now, I take a 'short cut' past the property when I go anywhere these days. I just have to drive up the driveway and walk around and scout things out real good.
We are in the midst of appraisals, preliminary plans, more appraisals, more detailed plans... lots of concept drawings... endless quotes and estimates for the new shop and studio.
The big move, along with opening Giggle Ridge for the season, as well as my regular Imagination Corporation work will keep me super crazy busy for the next four months and beyond. But its gonna be worth it!
And then there is the fun stuff... it seems I will need a brand new ride'm mower very soon. Test driving them has been kinda fun! And the job is tougher because I not only want quality equipment, but also want something I can add a substancial theme to before long.
And you are right on about Yarrow. Its a small town with a lot of heart that has been forgotten by time. I LOVE it there... and have for many years! We do the parade there every year with our Giggle Ridge float and its a highlight!
Matsqui Village, I know well too, Donna. I drove through there regularly before they built the new approach to the bridge that bypassed it. I worked at Safeway in Mission 25 years ago and drove throught there many times a week. Your view is gorgeous... ours will be similar, only without the horse.
Some folks think it fitting... we will live right next door to a nut farm (they grow hazel nuts - not what comes to everyone elses mind)
28 more sleeps until our move! I can hardly wait!

Dan, investigate John Deere for your mowing needs. Unbelievable quality machine! Ours is a double bagger, 3 cutting blades wide. We're on our 3rd upgrade and love this one the best. What's best about the machine is no gear switching, just two pedals, one for forward and one for backwards. I'm sure it would only be enhanced with your touches.
I'd love to see a pic of the old house on the property if possible!
