I went sailing once.... Off the coast here for three days.... It was fun, after I got over the sea sickness hehehe But yeah, I wouldn't mind doing it again someday. We saw whales, and dolphins.... Heaps of fun.
If I get near your town, I'll call in But I doubt if I would be able to, somehow... Ah well, one day

On a boat... in the Big Water??? uagaleeboogalee Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. I can handle a lake, but the Ocean? No way! I am happy for you all that can get out there and have fun, but to me a cruise or a sea-fishin' trip would be the worst torture imaginable. (and I don't even get sea-sick... just sea-freaked)

Nice boat Monte! I had a Hobie 16 when the boys were still at home and I can sure remember some great weekends with that boat. I don't think there is any bigger thrill than sailing a Hobie in the surf (of course unless you go turtle)

OK, Adrianne, you're on! This is an invitation to you to come out on SEA QUEST in San Fran bay as soon as the weather gets just a bit warmer. We keep her in Berkeley...Benicia marina costs too much and has a very bad habit of getting shallower year by year, as you probably know already. hk

Nice rig Monte. Like the name too! I love boats, but unfortunately at the present all I have is a party barge and I DON'T call that a boat. I,m a Parrothead so naturally I spend a lot of time "Island Dreamin'" As a matter of fact my son is in St. Croix right now working. He called Fri. night to describe the old plantation house they are staying in. The guy he is staying with is one of my oldest friends so my sister and I decided we would fly down there next week. Well this morning we sobbered up and the trip is off! Plane fare too high. Wanna sail down there and stay in free accomadations? Seriously, betcha can't wait for spring.

Adrienne, what's keeping you from passing out biz cards at the marina? Barter for rides, if nothing else. I bet you'll get a lot of boat biz.
I was in the Navy for 4 years and after that it was 13 years before I would go anywhere near the ocean. I love to be out there, but not for 14 cents an hour. I have an inflatable "Rubber Ducky" that I like to take to The River and paddle around - does it for me. I'm easily amused

OK, Uncle Howie, can I squeeze in on that invite? Ron Percell's dad also has a nice (Erikson, I believe) down in Sausalito.
We used to do alot of sailing. Not long distance cruising, but mostly day sailing. Had a Cal20. My favorite was always dingy racing though. We raced FJ's every Thursday night in Newport Beach.
Where's Rich Stebbing? He still races FJ's.

Rick... C'mon down. Sea Quest is also an Ericson, a 35, so there's plenty of room. The best time is generally in March thru May...unless you like to honk, in which case June or july is incredible. YOU are always invited. hk

Aaarrrrggg! Dems dat die'll be da lucky ones!
Jay and I love to sail and since we live down south, here in sunny Florida, our boat is always ready to go! Well, there are some exceptions: hurricanes and lackofwater! In the winter, the winds are the best for sailing but a Norther will blow the water out of the river, leaving us high and dry.
We currently have three sailboats, a Mutineer 15, a Prindle 19 and a Morgan 34. In our more agile years, we've been known to really kick some butt with the Prindle, she's tricked out for serious racing. Won the Florida State Championship three times! The Morgan has won a couple of 'Ladies Day' races, all female crew!
We've pretty much settled down with the Morgan, she's a comfortable cruiser. If you truely love the water, there's absolutely nothing like sailing the open sea, watching the land leave you with nothing but water on the horizon. It's a certain sense of freedom and responsibility. There are no street signs, convenient stores or cash registers, you're on your own! As the sun begins to set, pour a mug of yer favorite grog, kick back while listening to some soothing toons and watch as daylight leaves and darkness falls. Soon, the sky will light up with a magnificant show of stars and planets, Wow! Then, the dawn of a new day... Oh, and there's nothing like the smell of coffee brewin' and beacon fryin', after a night at sea!
Monte, we'd love to fly our burgee and share some grog with you! And, we extend an open invitation to our neighbors here in Letterville to join us, anytime.
'We cannot change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.'

Oh yeah, Sailing was a passion for me for sometime. I am now "boatless" for the first time in years. I started with a Snark bought at a Garage Sale, then went to FJ, Laser, Hobie 16, San Juan 21. I kept the Laser for about 10 yrs. and just sold it last summer. The next best thing is having friends with boats. I still get opportunities to crew/skipper in a race or two. Ihave sailed many of the area lakes/bays, and have "up the coast" of California one time. Ihave also crewed from Bay Area here up to Portland, OR., yeah I got some stories. I was in search of a San Juan 21 last summer, but coul not find right one, maybe this year. A trailerable boat that is light/quick and easy to rig, and can give you a "big-boat" feel without the cost/work. Here is a pic of me last spring on SF Bay with Alcatraz and San Francisco at my stern. Ayyyyy matey. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=16172&a=2007803&p=19680301

I love sailing and do so as often as i can. The rest of my family doesn't like water. I try sailing at least every other week. Got rid of my 21 cruiser and looking right now for a small personal sloop like Cher's 15' mutineer or a 16' compac... sumpin of that sort that I can sail alone if needed. At 40 yrs old now, I'm still taking U.S. Sailing classes certifications. I still have my old trusty land yacht though! LOL (her new coat is in progress)

I have a little bit of blue water sailing off of Fla, but mostly cruise the intracoastal over here in my 22' Catalina.
Haven't had enough time lately to go out, hopefully things will change.

Heh guys, the rum sounds good, and thinking of warmer things. Used to sail quite a bit mostly keel boat, cruising & racing. Liked the harbout races especially coming down the line on starboard tack. Had a 24' Shark but raced quite a bit on 28' Hinterhoeller (C&C). Have also sailed on dingys, Laser, Intl 14, Albacore. However I've forgotten more than I ever knew since it's been at least 10 years since I sailed. Up here we sail on Lake Superior which gets up to 50F. unless you're in protected harbour where sometimes you can swim. Trailered Shark to Florida one winter & sailed out of Tampa down coast - that was great! Following is a pic of friends boat (40') that we used to sail on.
