Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience in networking Mac and Windows boxes together?
A search at Google has turned up some useful information but you can't beat first hand experience.
TIA,
David

i have not had recent experience with Apple to PC networking. Last i did was when Apptalk cards were popular. however..

here is a way that looks familiar. and sounds reasonable

I have been using PC/MacLan for about 5 years. It loads on the PC and then broadcasts to the Mac through the Chooser via Ethernet. It can share files either direction. I know it will print through the PC but my printer does not have Mac drivers.

Good luck,

David,

Where I work we have 35 PC's and one MAC. We are running Windows 2000 server. We use the server for loging in, file sharing and backing up. I had help setting up the MAC's network access and I really know very little about MACs.

I do know that we needed something called a UAM volume set up on the server. This allows the MAC files to inhabit the Windows formated hard drive I believe. ??

Now that things are set up it works amazingly well. Networked Internet access, file sharing and networked printing are all a breeze.

I can try to answer specific questions but...

Thankyou for your responses.
I'm waiting for a call so I can ask for some more information such as what type of files (graphic, database, word processing...?) and sharing of resources will be required, and specifics of the respective OS's.
Definitely a considerable amount of reading to be done here.
All input gratefully received.
David

We have a network of 2 MAC's and 5 PC's. We use DAVE (by Thursby) which is software installed on the MAC side. We operate as a peer-to-peer network with files being accessed easily from anywhere. For printer sharing, one of our lasers is on it's own ethernet connection (i.e. not local to one of the computers), so it can be accessed easily from any computer.

We have high-speed cable internet which we plug into a router and all computers have internet access simultaneously. We don't notice any degredation.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me. I'll help if I can.
