Welcome to the Bullboard. Jump right in and get both feet wet. Most any post remotly related to signs is appropriate. Questions, discoveries, it worked for me's, interesting projects, problem projects or sometimes to just plain vent. All are appropriate.
Avoid like the plague: religion, politics and sexism. Also "paint vs vinyl".
BTW: I loved your performance in "Shane".

Welcome, Alan. And I'm gonna say... go ahead and jump on any controversial topic you like. The things that matter most in life are controversial. If all we did was talk about things every one agreed on, or nobody cared about, what a boring people we would be! A little helpful hint, though: When starting a topic that's "off topic," (or non-sign related), put a little "O/T" beside the post so the ones who have chronic trouble with those kinds of topics can't say they weren't forewarned.
You'll be hooked on this site in no time. There's so much to learn from here, as well as so many that request knowledge on something we know about. No matter where you're at, you'll find this place invaluable.
Do's and don'ts? LOL! Post something controversal and you'll find out really quick! This is a really diverse group of folks, so no matter what you post, some will blast ya and some will be objective, just depends on who's posting what. That's everywhere. Put on your seatbelt and just hang on tight and you'll be part of our little community in no time.

Hi Alan... I guess there are a lot of us old farts around here. I remember the movie as well. And I'll bet that the comments you have heard here regarding your name have been heard many times before.
Maybe you should add that line to all the rest in the other post about the weirdest things ya hear while signpainting!
Oh yeah!....If you wonder whether someone is serious or trying to be humorous look for the little smiley face--------->
It's a dead givaway as to how the poster is feeling when they post or reply.

Welcome to Letterville Alan! We're a community of Letterheads...signmakers, pinstripers, airbrushers, giders, sculpters and other graphic types.
We are all united by our love for what we do and our comman desire to be the best that we can be. Letterville is an online version of a live Letterhead Meet. It's a place where we can share what we have learned and learn from others that are doing what you want to do. Hope you find a home here Alan.
There are a couple features here that you may not have noticed right away. For one thing, there's the button at the bottom of this page where you can go to other parts of this bb. The portfolio page often has some cool stuff.
Secondly, there's a search button near the top of the main bb page. you can use that to search a particualr topic that has been covered in the past. great for those "what kind of primer..." kinda questions that come up.
Join in and make yourself at home. This is a pretty good bunch of people ya stumbled onto here.
And I'd recommend trying out the chat thing. It's a hoot to talk with people in the sign trade from all over the world. (and will do wonders for your typing skills...but be prepared for your grammar and spelling to go out the window)

Thanks for bringing that up Monte. Another one of our goals here at Letterville is to encourage more to attend a live Letterhead Meet.
They come in all shapes and flavours. Some concentrate more on pinstriping and vehicle graphics, as well as signage. Although some hate the label, we still call these PinHead Meets.
The newest kid on the block is the WallDog Meet. At these meets, we all join forces to create several wall murals in a weekend. Very rewarding!
We try to document every meet we can for future reference. Our Past Meets Page at www.letterhead.com/meets/ has information and photos on meets around the World. Most of the articles are written by first time attendees so we all get to recapture the excitement as seen thru their eyes.
I urge more of you to go look over these past meet stories. We hope you too will get that hunger that motivated us to get to our first meet. Barb and I hope to see you at a meet this coming year!

Welcome Alan! Hope you enjoy it here as much as we do. Remember, The only stupid question is the one not asked. You will find that this is a special place unlike any on the net. You can make some lifelong friends, learn a few new tricks and have a great time all at the same place. One place I'd like to recomend is the search at the top of the page. Most questions I've had can be found and answered there. Good luck! Have fun!

Welcome to town! This place is called Letterville. More and more of us are trying to think of this as place to reside, hang our hats, share in some community responsibilities, and keep a on-line letterhead meet growing and thriving. Doesn't matter what you do as long as its somewhat related to the sign business.
Letterville is a mix of the good, the bad, and some ugly. You will have fun.
You can tell who have hung around town the longest by checking their profile at the top of their post. It shows how many posts a person has made. 60 posts would be a pretty low number, over 2000 has has only been broken by one guy....right Mark?.... hahahahahahahahh
See you around town!

One question I have always wanted to know is:"How many Ducks does it take to shingle a Roof?"

Hi Alan, I think most have given their views of dos and don'ts, My advice...hey bro just be Alan Ladd, btw I remember that actor. I don't know if that makes me old too, Like some of these old sign dogs. You wouldn't happen to be related to Cheryl Ladd would you? I always liked her, thought she was great in Charlie's Angels.
