A friend of mine aquired a used air compressor from his dentists office and gave it to me.
After running a new 220 line and some minor construction I have a kick butt new compressor.
It has a big muffler and is really quiet. I can't believe this freebee !
I went out to home depot and bought a $12 sandblast gun (siphon feed) wasn't expecting much but WOW! I'm blasting cedar, redwood, marble, and hdu foam with ease ! I even did some glass etching.
Can you say "Christmass gifts" ?
Still getting the sand out my clothes, ears, and well... it's everywhere.

Steve, that's great. But how about some specs? Is it piston or turbine, does it have a big reserve tank? I always imagined their compressors to be sleek and chrome plated, but I guess that's silly. Is it a known name brand, or will parts be difficult? (The suppliers rubbing their hands together saying: AHA, we know you're making big dollars with this baby). Anyway Ya dun good son! Jim D.

My brother is a dentist, and I have 3 compressors that were in a practice he bought. Two of them run on 110, and the other one runs on 220. He wanted a newer one starting out, so I got the old ones.
These are old enough they do not have any specs on them. Storage is kind of small(about 3 gallons) but recovery is great. I have used one of the smaller units to run a Binks 7 spray gun with no loss of pressure. Parts do cost more, because you have to add the word "dental" in front of compressor, but the ones I have are over 40 years old and run fine. You can not hear them from 10 ft away.
I do know that the new one has 2 compressors that alternate runtime. If one is supposed to run, but does not, the other will start and it sets off an alarm to let you know one is not operating. It runs on 220, has small storage(2-5 gallon tanks) and will supply 28 cfm @ 95 psi. This unit cost just a little over $14,000.00, and they will install it for about $8,000.00. If you install, you have no warranty at all. If they install, you have a 20 year FULL warranty w/ next day in house service.

Specs ? I dunno. The information on the machine is incomplete at best. It has a 10.4 amp motor runs on 220. The tank (i'm guessing) in comparison to a 9 gal. portable air tank must be at least 24 gal. It was built in 1972. The only brand information is on the tank itself, 'Kargard Industries Inc.' I haven't found any relevant info doing a google search.
I'll post a photo if I can figure out how. (point me to the instructions and I'll read 'em.)
