any tips or advice for repainting an entire awning? somebody told me that a water-based paint (exterior house paint?) would flex better than 1-shot. its a dark green Sunbrella awning that they want painted light blue, before the lettering goes on.

Scooter, I letter sunbrella, with NazDar Permaflex. Before I would paint the base a different color that then has to be lettered, I would call the manufacturer and ask for their recommendation. Sunbrella is a solution dyed acrylic. It is made by Glen Raven Mills in Glen Raven NC. I don't doubt Si's recommendation at all, I'm not so concerned about making a new color stay on all over the surface, but to then letter it makes me a little nervous.
