Christian....It isn't going to put you out of business it is going to put more money in your pocket and keep you in business longer. And the price sounds right to me.

Insane?? Sounds about right here too. Why will a price increase put you out of business? Everything else increases, why not the price of your services? Sometimes i think our prices are high, on a $100 per square foot sign. Because i dont make 6 figures. To alot of customers its a drop in the bucket. No matter how enjoyable a project might be, you must be paid for your craft.
One thing you seem to lack in is a sense of business. Its not what you charge, its who you play golf with! You don't seem to get it!
Not only that, less than 5% of customers "shop around" for the cheapest price. They don't have time.
And, how does the customer know what a sign costs? How does he know if its $5.00 more than it should be? Even competing sign shops are way different on quotes for the same sign. If Sign shops have such a drastic varience in price, how would one of your customers know any better?
Next, human nature makes customers wait to the last minute to decide they need a sign. In that moment of frenzy is when you nail them for the higher price. That is a service fee for getting their work done first ahead of other jobs. Every business has those charges.
I get charged $10 to $15 extra if I order less than $100 from some suppliers. I don't like it, but I pay it. Your customers may not like it either, but they pay it, don't they? Yes and they come back if they feel you went the extra mile for them.
So, you had better get your business cap on before you bankrupt yourself! You are in business to make a "profit". Did you forget that? Profit is what you make AFTER you paid yourself, paid the expenses and accounted for losses.
I know you think I being hard on you here, but it just may be what you need to correct your viewpont.

Watch the details of these transactions. How does the customer that is paying $25 a 4"x12" treat you. I bet you will find he has a lot more respect for your services and capabilities than the client that you charge $10 for the same thing.
Clients that pay a fair rate know they are getting good service and value for their dollars.

These posts make me think of the customer that responds to your price with, "Kinda high, isn't it?" I always ask them, "Compared to what?" Or, "What makes you think that?"
