That is quite the price swing there. If you had quoted me that kind of price, I would have walked. It makes you sound like you haven't a clue. You are talking a third here. Way too much of a swing.
Was the other guys price too cheap? Beats me. It is hard for to judge what your market is like. It might be too cheap for you and too much for someone else.
Charge what you need to and the bottom feeders will weed themselves out.

Glenn, there are too many variables to make a call. What does the other guy's artwork look like? Is it masked off in the shape of a car, painted, then a number added? Or is there some "realism" in it?. Is it $30 dollar a gallon paint or $80? Some people really don't take into consideration all the steps involved in a job (clean-up, etc). Having a three tier pricing flyer made up just for illustration would help, but, of course, I havn't got around to it yet. Jim.

do you have a photo of what work was done? vinyl only vs. edge printed (or screen printed) vs. paint can be quite a pricing difference. decals only or did price include application?

Just the basics, with approximate sizes: Roof number 32” x 48” –1 Door number 32” x 24” –2 Side, Hood, and Tailgate Bud logo 60” x 10” –4 Side “E” stripes 96” x 8” –2
Total job nested on a 204” x 48” sheet (x2 colors: White and Black) File setup time, plotter cut time, weed time, premask, overlay/prespace, cut apart (and apply?) sounds a little low, but if everyone's happy, so be it.

......I recently did a golf cart for a guy here.....I scuff-sanded the main fiberglass body and shot it with centari...no hardner...no clear finish....the guy would'nt go the extra $$ for THAT....after all that purty bright green paint wuz dry...I hand cut an intersate battery logo for the "hood" an' numbers fer each side....ran sum pinstripin' all around an' got 450$ fer that......the guy loved it an' was "D'man" at the races, what boyz will pay for toyz!! The bigger question is "can we be sued for copyright infringement on jobs like this?" I mean how legal is it to reproduce this kind of work? I asked this guy, "look, if sum'a LaBonte's people see you strollin' around in this thing an' wanna know where you got it....uh...after the initial flattery wears off, then what??" The customer called me back with potential orders for at least 4 more of these golf carts...one of which would be the "24" car (which I told him would be double the price because of the no. of colors used/details, etc.), but before I would agree to do it, I asked him to do the homework on copyrights, since he was gonna sell them when I finished them...........he ain't called back yet...........must'a learn't sum'thin'!!
