I just made reservations for the Ramada. The price for a night is $79.00 (you will have to ask them for it... I did). The Motel 6 is $68.00/night.
The Ramada Inn has a restaurant (with complimentary breakfast included), a lounge (with karaoke on Friday and a live band on Saturday), king sized beds, a heated indoor pool, tennis courts, and a putting green (you hear that John Novicki?)! Woohoo!
Looking over what each has to offer, we felt that the Ramada was a better deal than Motel 6.
Have a great one!

Call me a cheap bastard too. I was going to go with Town 'n' country, but for an extra $14 for the trip, I went with Motel 6. I'm nervous about little places after the Hindu Hilton we stayed at for Pat King's meet. I have my fingers crossed that this place doesn't have any bullet holes in the doors or blood stains on the walls.

Brian "Spider" Papa and I stayed at a Motel in Jersey when we went to a meet. There was no lock on the door. Grafitti on the walls. We didn't dare sleep under the covers. Luckly we both had brought sleeping bags and just layed them on the bed. We jammed a chair under the unlocked door handle and I left a swiss army knife open on the nightstand. Sometimes being a cheap bastard doesn't pay but it makes for good stories. Maybe I will pack some heat for the next trip.

I used to work as a bouncer in a bar. We would confiscate fake ID's from people when we found them. These would get thrown in a box behind the bar. Well, on New Years we would have a employee party at a local Motel. the room would be rented with one of the fake id's. Needless to say the rooms were never the same. Please understand, I was not the one renting the room. My boss did. Needless to say he is no longer in business.

Hindu Hilton..... ask anyone who went to the meet in England last fall about the hotel we ended up in. The place was all Indian, with a restaurant on the premises that caused the entire place to have the pungent reek of curry. I was sharing with Ken Millar, and one night we left the key with the desk clerk so Ken could come back early. Needless to say, they lost the ##$^%$!! key. When I came back at 1 am, they had let Ken use another room; I raised hell til one of the staff appeared with a bucket filled with keys of every description. After an hour of F****ing around trying every key in the bucket, they managed to open the door. This place was a Hindu Fawlty Towers, and staff and management let us know - with looks of glaring insolence - that us "white folks" were a definite minority. Only our $$$$ was welcome.
This is no slam on the meet organizers; they did the best they could to get reasonably-priced accomodation, and everything about the meet was great. Rob's right, a funky hotel makes for some good stories.

Cam, I do not blame the meet organizers when motel problems happen. I know Bobbie King was upset over the problems we had at Duck Soup. None of us blamed her. She had looked at a room at the motel, and we all figure they have 1 nice room they show people, but never let anyone stay in it.
The rooms advertised free in-room coffee. Some people had coffee pots and no coffee, some had coffee and no coffee pot. Don Hulsey had coffee in his room... about 2 feet diameter circle of it on the floor. Don Coplen's room had a bullet hole in the door, patched with putty and blood stains on the wall. I had to go to the front desk every night to ask for towels because they took the dirty ones and didn't leave any clean ones. I also had to go ask for toilet paper as there wasn't any when I got there.
We called it the Hindu Hilton because out of everyone who called to make a reservation, we haven't found one who had any idea what the person at the hotel said to them.
Hopefully there is a light on at the motel 6.
