I've been asked about doing a couple static clings and I've searched past threads here only to find conflicting info.
These will be temporary, on the OUTSIDE of the windshields at some car shows. They will be removed after the show and probably used again. I don't need to be concerned with whether they will stay put at 60 MPH or not or whether they will shrink after 6 months in 100+ degree sunlight.
My questions are:
Can I put vinyl on them? I figure they will be external with the cling part would be against the window and the vinyl on top of that, so adhesion and visibility shouldn't be concerns.
How do you price these? Comparable to magnetic, window lettering with the added cling expense or what?
Thanks for the help.

Chris, yes, you can use vinyl on static cling. Just be sure you use a med. to low tack tranfer tape so as not to stretch it when you remove the tape. It sounds like the perfect solution for be job you explained.
Pricing. Keep it in the same ball park as mags, just a little lower. Hope this helps.
Not giving a Shizt about ("Their Only Need" It FOR!) It is still a project to put through the Mill.
I had one come back at me with a Coroplast Temp sign for the GRAND OPENING. OK! Can you (I) revise it! Sure I said! but the price is so much $$$$$ more. But it is a Temp Sign? (They said!) Yes it was... But now it is a new "Design Sign Look!"
Sorry if you don't like to pay me for my time and Good Luck to Your business.

Stephen, I always figure my price as material, time, profit, etc. When I do some new type of signwork, I like to compare what I come up with to the pricing guides to see if I'm in the right neighborhood. Basically, it helps me see if my price is way low it's because I forgot a step or material.
Thanks for the info Judy. I guess I just wanted someone who has worked with it to tell me I was on the right path. I searched for static cling on previous threads and read through them all. I found conflicting info and just wanted to hear from someone who has actually used it instead of someone who just feels like typing.

Chris, I've used vinyl over static cling and have even airbrushed it, and yeah you'll need a less aggressive transfer tape although the cling does shrink back into shape.
You want some clear static film? I have quite a bit of it onhand and I don't use much of it.
