That's what someone asked me the other day.
And I simply don't know!
But I did get to go to Lee Valley today and buy me a couple of new carving knives and stone to keep them sharp. For those of you who don't have one of these cool stores near you... well, TOO BAD. Wall to wall quality tools. I coulda spent thousands and thousands, but Janis has me on a strict budget these days.
I of course NEEDED the new knives to do a good job on the brushes I'm carving for the French Kiss A Brush logo project.
And I also brought home with me three new catalogs just in case there is something else I absolutely need.

I've been using this knife for over 25 years...$11 for the handle a buck apiece for the blades.....which you resharpen (not throw away). If it doesn't bust your wife's imposed budget, give it a try.
www.warrencutlery.com click on handles, page 2, its the jw3.0"...(don't get the one with the wood handle!) then click on Blades...I use the 20EX. I modify the blade design, a bit. The modification is simple. If you get one, let me know and I'll tell you how. This puppy is super for any detail carving!......IMNSHO.....
I've been selling a few of em for many years with the "If you don't love it, bring it back for a full refund " deal......they don't come back!

Thanks for the link Joe. I'll check it out for sure!
I bought two knives yesterday at Lee Valley. They were very reasonable... at $12-15 CAN each which is about $9-12 US. They work great! I roughed out both carvings yesterday evening. And I am happy with them already!
Best part... I only cut myself once.... and didn't require stitches either!
It was ALL the other goodies in the store which tempted me, not the inexpensive items I went into the store for.
