Brand spankin' new laminator and the HEAT doesn't work. Is my boss overlooking some simple solution (like when you try to import into Corel but you havent opened a page yet and the import command is not accesible and you have a 2 second brain fart) or may it really be broken already? Could it simply be like a "SAFETY" switch or such.
It is a SEAL 44 ULTRA laminator.
My side business subbed out my employers business to produce a 3 x 7 banner(confused yet?). The banner is done except for the laminating. Just before we were to laminate it, the roller got noticeably cooler. Now, there is absolutly no warmth or heat at all. An electrician here (at my employers) took a quick gander at it and found no connection problems. My dept. boss called the tekkie for some answers but has since gone skiing. My customer neeeds his banner for this coming weekend tradeshow so I am a little edgie. This topic is a ditch effort to remedy the situation because some of us don't ski...we work and, I need to get MY banner to MY customer or I am screwed.

Is there some kind of fuse on the machine? Did you check the plug? Does the machine operate correctly, heat not withstanding?
You could also use a cold PSA laminate in a pinch. We use it a lot. Works great.
Your dep't boss should get his ass reamed for ditching his responsibility. Just because you work there, it doesn't make you any less of a customer.
Hope you have a great one!

Now Im not an electrician but, my boss had the guy check it out as well as fuses. I know as much about digi printing and lamin. as electricity- Im a vinyl guy. What's a cold PSA laminate? I got a AZON scrim banner if that helps. I AM a customer - that's right and if they have to sub out a lamination at there expense then so be it.
PSA ... Pressure Sensitive Adhesive. Cold laminates are really nothing more than a clear vinyl. In fact, we sometimes use clear vinyl as a laminate. Tedlar works good, too. Real durable.
man... 6 replies within 45 minutes... if that ain't worth the price of admission....
