Hi Heads. Are any of you in the market for a Moose? There's an interesting auction of a whole herd of mooses (or is that meese?) in Toronto. These were painted by various artists, and displayed around the city. Now the entire herd is being auctioned off with proceeds going to various charities. Check out the moose collection at: http://buyamoose.com/ You might get a kick out of how some of these critters were decorated.

Stephen, If you're tired of venison, there's a great old Canadian recipe for Fiddleheads & Fried Snowballs you might want to try...better than burning a moose at the stake.

Be sure to take a look at Loose Moose when you surf to www.buyamoose.com. She is my favorite. As keepers of the craft you should also consider biding on Alphabet Moose. The elementary school kids that decorated that one did a pretty good job.
Maybe we could bid on that one and give it to Steve and Barb!

Don't need a dehydrator Stephen: What do you want in trade? (hot pepper jellies and fruit jams are my hobby lately)
Venison Jerky
2 lb Venison 1 c Soy sauce 1 t Lemon juice 1/2 t Black pepper 1/4 t Garlic crushed red pepper flakes (op)
Cut the venison in strips approximately 1/4 x 1 x 8-inches. Mix all ingredients and marinate venison approximately 10 hours turning once every hour. Smoke venison on grill until completely dry or you may use oven on low heat with venison spread out on broiler pan.

Adrian, My cousin in Alaska makes moose jerky, and he says to use toothpicks to hang it between the wire of an oven grill on lowest heat. This is so that it doesn't fry against the metal. It works very well. Bronzeo........I would love to trade something from central states, for a little moose jerky outa Canada. Bronzeo

That's a cool idea!!! (toothpicks) been wanting to try jerkying. Organized my freezer today, found enough blackberries (from my yard)to make a batch and wanting to make a batch of harbenero jelly soon. Sorry, guess this thread got a little off track..... Adrienne
