I am doing a patinae finish over metal and would like to coat it with a reflective coating and I thought putting glass beads in UV Clear One Shot should work!
Any thoughts?

Robert, sounds interesting, I have done some for roofs, asphalt parking lots and sprinkled glass beads on latex paint after rolling it for reflectivabilty. Keep us posted, I'd like to see that.

Robert, I would be worried about the oppacity being an issue. Is it an issue to the underlying patina? How much change are you willing to have?
Let us know how it goes.

Hey Robert, I've used One Shot Tinting Clear and One Shot Clear both mixed with Jacquard powdered pigments to acheive a reflective coating and it has worked well for me. You can mix as much or little pigment as you want into the clear. Gives some cool effects. I've sprayed it on with good results.

Bernice I am and have just used the glass beads you speak of and that is the ones I use to blast with.
I know a fellow letterhead had mentioned spraying it mix with your paint media and lightly scuffing the surface after it has been applied.
I have gotten this crazy idea to lay patinaed colors for a background on a large project we are doing and allow the clear to carry the beads onto the surface allowing a "movement" in the reflective value seen from a distance.
It works on other things, but I have not tried it in a clear coat. I am playing with it now and will share my results afterwards. We love to throw things into the mix that other companies won't even attempt. Is that a Letterhead or what!...LOL Kristi...thanks...I really don't see why it would not work....I will let ya know!!!!

Robert, I would consider using the pearl that you get at body shops. I think it is better shapes to allow translucency. I think also it will lay down better. The glass blasting beads seem to round for the job, but maybe not. Let us know. Another idea might be to put pearl it an airbrush or touchup gun to the side. Clear with a larger gun then lay some pattern in it immediately while wet with the smaller gun. Might lend to some neat effects, it now too obvious.
