May God watch over and protect the troops and the innocent; and, may the war be short.

I heard that they hit a 'target of opportunity' a short while ago....

They can't say as yet, but wouldn't it great if they HAVE killed Saddam?

Short and sweet! Let's hope so...

Regardless of your feelings about this war....please remember all of those that are in the Military and their families.

I will pray for all, I talked to a local teen today that is in our youth group, she has a student from iraq in her class, he told the class today that his grandparents who still live in bagdad are praying for the us to come and remove saddam as well, for they live in fear of him on a daily basis.

I also pray for all our letterhead brothers and sisters, for many have direct ties to this conflict.

My god what have we done? I fully support our troops but am sad it had to come to this.

lets go make some signs lol

You and Australians as well are all in my thoughts and prayer but unfortunately there was no other way out. I am sure it will be short and then we get back on with life.

I cracked up when the reporter referred to the opening music and graphics of Saddam's speech as Monty Pythonish!!!!

I agree, that was my first thought....it could have been a pre recorded speech most definately.

That's his whole scheme....fooling his own people into thinking he's a god....after the last time he was defeated he went around declaring 'We've won, we've won!"

and the sadest part of this ....some are getting "enjoyment" from this debacle. how many more must die before your 9-1-1 pain is forgotten?
killing is killing, and more dead people dont change those that have died. this doesnt make me feel good.

There's no such thing as a good war. Loved ones on both sides are killed. Brothers, Fathers, Wives and more are sacrificed. Tomorrow I will be going to a "Support our Troops "rally. Not because I am for a war, but because I respect people and thier families who give their all for this county. So that's my two cents.

WELL SAID Alicia!!!!! Sometime this week I am going to Paint a sign beside the bleach boxes at tha dragstrip here,...On the bottom tha track owner asked me to paint and design something to the effect of "Support Our Troops". He don't know it yet but this sign ain't gonna cost him a dime due to his "his" support! Hopefully the tv sports cameramen will get a good shot of it and the message will reach huge numbers of folks,....I will restate my feelings about the current conflict,....I am by no means in favor of war but having a son in the military I have no choice but to support our troops.

Just talking with my 18y/o son on his cell phone tonight. He's in Airborne unit Oz Army.

Australia has 2000 special forces there , plus airforce and navy units in the Gulf already.

Ian has just come off two special training courses, one of which was "house-to-house" combat [Frown]

Quote: "Dad, mind if I call yer back after midnight ... cause that's all the notice we got to go next" [Frown]

Then he blew me away by saying he would get $80,000 Tax Free bonus to his regular pay if he went!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too will support our troops in this conflict, but I dont support this war. I hope our soldiers are able to return to their families, but many of them will not return, that is a fact. It worries me deeply about what lies in store for them. God please watch over them.
And please, dont liken this to a football game.

Being not a political savvy person, I can naively oppose our act of aggression and still pray for our troops and world leaders and the civillians that might be injured. Last week while driving through the city, I tuned in on a radio call in show, and listened to people talking about how necessary the war was to jump start our economy. Many were agreeing with this concept. I later heard about the billion dollar contracts that were out to bid for the rebuilding of Iraq.

Our best bet to stay out of future wars is to remove the Sadaam's early and not let them have years of murder. The lives lost in the war will not equal the amount of suffering and death, he has already cause. The U.N. was created to deal with these situations early with a united effort. The U.N. today is a joke. They are only interested in maintaining their high priced lifestyle in New York's choicest neighborhoods.
Make these people negotiate under the conditions that they help profiferate, and something will change.
Joe this is not a support the war or protest the war post. It is a support realistic judgment post. There must be enough conviction to stand up to tyranny early.

Isn't the Bin Laudin family contractors and their main business is concrete and refurbishing airports and building structures?

War is nice for some who love the smell of burning flesh.

Its nice to see how words change and killing becomes a target of opportunity. Been there, done that.

I have several thoughts at this difficult time that I would like to express. In response to Mr. Deaton's post I agree,
quote:
And please, dont liken this to a football game.
C'mon Laura, GO BUSH?

My wife and I were just commenting about how the news coverage in this country is doing just that. When you watch the news it's like watching the pre-game show for the super bowl. I would prefer to hear just the news as it pertains to the facts with out all the computer graphics and aids and speculation.

I also deplore war and violence and feel that most times it acomplishes nothing. I do feel though at times, when the bully has you against the wall that you have to fight back. I also will pray for the safe return of our troops, their families, and the innocent people whose country is being torn apart.

In parting here is something that I received in the email the other day that made me think. Hope you enjoy it.

THE MOUSE'S TALE

A mouse looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package; what food might it contain? He was aghast to discover that it was a mouse trap! Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning, "There is a mouse trap in the house, there is a mouse trap in the house."

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell you this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me; I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mouse trap in the house." "I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I can think of to do about it. Surely someone else will step in to help." The mouse turned to the cow, who replied, "Like wow, Mr. Mouse, a mouse trap; am I in grave danger, Duh?"

So the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected to face the farmer's mouse trap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a mouse trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what had been caught. In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital. She returned home with a fever.

Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient. His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig. The farmer's wife did not get well, in fact, she died. So many people came for her funeral the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all of them to eat.

So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it does not concern you, remember that when the least of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
